CUTIE STREET is the idol group whose popularity is skyrocketing right now.

In an era where the K-pop boom has people gravitating toward stylish groups, they’re gaining fans with a classic, distinctly Japanese idol image.

Their popular song “Single-minded Cinderella!” features a bright tone while staying within a narrow vocal range throughout.

The tempo isn’t fast, and there aren’t any sudden jumps in pitch, making it a very singable track for teenage girls.

Due to the face-reveal issue, the recently buzzworthy female singer-songwriter tuki.

has been in the spotlight.

If you’re a teenage girl, chances are you’ve heard her songs at least once.

Among tuki.’s tracks, the one I especially recommend is “Ingots of Pure Love.” Although it features some falsetto in parts, the overall range is quite narrow, and there are no difficult long tones or shouts at all.

If you find the falsetto sections challenging, instead of singing delicately, try singing them a bit louder with a mix-voice approach.

Macaroni Enpitsu’s “Koibito Gokko” was released for early streaming on February 7, 2020, and is a signature track included on the album “hope,” released on April 1.

It features lyrics depicting bittersweet lingering feelings and an ambiguous relationship, paired with a gentle yet emotionally resonant sound.

Since it was featured in Honda’s “Hop on a bike?” tie-in and a Spotify commercial, the chorus may sound familiar.

Many vocal-training students are fans of Macaroni Enpitsu, so it could be good to have at least one song you can sing.

That said, the vocal range is on the higher side, so be careful not to strain and hurt your throat.

Singing with a bright expression helps open the throat, so projecting your voice boldly is key! Try to stay relaxed and avoid losing timing right before the first chorus.

If I could become a constellationkessoku bando

Kessoku Band’s most famous song, “If We Could Become a Constellation.” The melody isn’t too difficult and the rhythm is calm, so many of my vocal training students have sung it.

In fact, I’ve heard that JOYSOUND staff are doing a “95-point challenge” with this song, so with practice your score might really jump! The overall range is G3–C#5, and the chorus hits C5 repeatedly, so many people may feel it’s “high.” But the melody has drive, so if you focus on accents, you’ll be fine! First, listen carefully to identify which parts are the high notes.

Take the spots where you think “maybe here?” and turn them into accents by riding the rhythm with energy.

The key is to project your voice forward! Start with targeted practice so you can produce the sound comfortably, and do your best!

Fujii Kaze is an artist known for his unique style of blending R&B into J-pop.

For teenage boys as well, singing as effortlessly as he does is something to aspire to, isn’t it? Among his songs, one that’s especially easy to sing is Tabiji.

Compared to his other tracks, it uses fewer techniques common in R&B—such as vocal runs—and the vocal range is relatively narrow, making it a particularly singable piece for teenage male singers.

Inspired by the manga Blue Period, this piece portrays a fervent passion for immersing yourself in what you love.

It’s a track released digitally in September 2020 by YOASOBI, a unit that turns novels into music, and it’s also known as the song from the Bourbon Alfort Mini Chocolate commercial.

The song is included on their first EP, THE BOOK, released in 2021, and ikura’s clear vocals together with the exhilarating sound really resonate.

The chorus features a group-singing part, so even if you’re not confident singing alone, you can have a blast with friends! Even in sections with sustained high notes, it’s nothing to fear when everyone raises their voices together.

How about enjoying it at karaoke after club activities or after school, feeling the bond with your friends as you sing?

Marunouchi SadisticShiina Ringo14rank/position

Surprisingly, this song is popular among junior high and high school students.

It’s a signature track from the first album, “Muzai Moratorium,” released in 1999, set in post-bubble Tokyo and characterized by cynical, decadent lyrics and chic, jazz-fusion-style chord progressions.

Though not a single, it’s a hugely beloved masterpiece that Ringo wrote at age 17.

The melody is gentle and catchy, too.

As long as you can hit the high notes in the chorus, many people should be able to sing it well.

Swaying side to side as you sing might make it come off even more stylish!
