TENDRE is the solo project of Taro Kawahara, whose parents are jazz bassist Hideo Kawahara and jazz singer Atsuko Kawahara.
Since 2009, he has been active alongside his band work as a recording engineer, live support member, and producer, and he made his major-label debut in 2021.
He was also selected as one of 25 artists for Fender’s next-generation artist support program, Fender NEXT, drawing increasing attention to his future activities.

It’s pronounced “tender,” not “tendore.” Its stylish musicality is popular and highly regarded by hardcore music enthusiasts.
Among TENDRE’s tracks, the one I especially recommend is “hanashi.” It’s similar in musical style to Gen Hoshino’s work, blending a wistful J-pop vibe with neo-soul elements.
While it’s not a bass-heavy track, the vocal range is narrow and the groove is strong, so lowering the key can make the low notes really shine.
Tweak the key just enough to avoid overdoing it, and definitely give it a try.
