This commercial uses pop-style animation to show how Daihatsu’s Move supports various aspects of daily life.

It depicts a nighttime scene under a starry sky, and by overlapping it with shots of people taking in the cityscape, it creates a stylish atmosphere.

The song that further accentuates this stylish vibe is Tatsuro Yamashita’s “MOVE ON.” It gives the impression of gentle city pop, and its refreshing sound has a calming effect.

RIDE ON TIMEYamashita Tatsuro2rank/position

This is a tie-in song for Maxell’s cassette tape commercials that dominated the music scene of the 1980s, and a work that marked a turning point in Tatsuro Yamashita’s career.

Drawing attention alongside the TV commercials filmed on location in Saipan, it reached as high as No.

3 on the Oricon Weekly Singles Chart.

Based on a blend of pop and rock, the track weaves in elements of funk and soul, with a pleasantly resonant brass section adding vibrant color.

The presence of the alto saxophonist’s solo is overwhelming, and the melodious phrases in the bridge seize the listener’s heart and won’t let go.

It’s the perfect song for boosting an open, liberated mood—ideal for driving scenes or summer parties.

YOUYamashita Tatsuro3rank/position

The Asahi Life commercial featuring Miho Kanno is titled “Life Is a Book.” In the product explanation for the long-term care insurance plan Anshin Kaigo, it introduces the idea that life is a single book and that each person’s story should be cherished.

The CM song is “YOU,” included on Tatsuro Yamashita’s 2022 album SOFTLY.

In the ANA Okinawa campaign commercial that aired in 1983, Tatsuro Yamashita’s “Koukiatsu Girl” (High-Pressure Girl) was featured.

Its refreshing melody perfectly matches the impression of Okinawa’s beautiful sea and sky and really leaves a mark! The lyrics are filled with words that evoke the tropical atmosphere of Okinawa, and just one listen makes you want to take a trip there.

It’s a song packed with the desire to set off on a journey, riding a high-pressure system that carries the heat of the shining sun.

By the way, the breathy interjection you hear partway through the song is said to be by Tatsuro Yamashita’s wife, Mariya Takeuchi!

This song, “Christmas Eve,” one of Tatsuro Yamashita’s hit tracks and also a Christmas song, is probably best known as the CM song for JR Tokai’s “Christmas Express” featuring Riho Makise.

It has also been used in commercials for Suzuki’s Chevrolet MW and DeNA’s Mobage, among others.

This is a track included on the 1998 album “COZY,” written by Tatsuro Yamashita specifically for a Mister Donut commercial.

The reason I’m introducing this song now as one you may feel you’ve heard somewhere is that Masaki Suda covered it in a Mister Donut commercial in 2023.

The chorus has an extremely addictive melody that’s striking, and the song has a mysterious charm that makes you feel happy as you listen.

Flying Wanderer -Human-Yamashita Tatsuro7rank/position

This is a song included on Tatsuro Yamashita’s 1991 album “ARTISAN.” It was used in the commercial for ANA’s “Hiyūjin.” Due to the circumstances of the album’s production, it was apparently created to serve as a kind of cushion between Side A and Side B.

Performed as a stripped-down vocal-and-guitar piece, its gentle melody is truly mesmerizing.

It feels like the dawn when winter passes and spring arrives, and it also seems to portray human potential—an understated, quintessentially Yamashita track.
