God of RomanceHirose Kōmi

Kohmi Hirose has released numerous classic winter songs.
She is known as the Queen of Winter and has put out many tracks perfect for the season.
Among her many songs, “God of Romance” is especially popular and has become a staple on the ski slopes.
SnowdomeKimura Kaera

It’s Kaela Kimura’s eighth single and is included on her third album, “Scratch.” The composition is by BEAT CRUSADERS, with lyrics by Kaela Kimura.
The arrangement was handled by Shinobu Watanabe of ASPARAGUS, who has arranged many of Kimura’s other songs as well.
It’s a heartrending winter love song.
My lover is Santa ClausMatsutōya Yumi

Yumi Matsutoya—known as Yuming—made her debut as a composer at the young age of 17, and after emerging as a singer-songwriter, she continued to create numerous masterpieces that remain in Japan’s music history.
It’s impossible to fully convey her monumental achievements here, but the fact that she has remained a top artist from the 1970s through the 2020s speaks for itself.
One of Yuming’s iconic winter songs, widely known as a classic Christmas tune, is “Koibito ga Santa Claus” (“My Lover Is Santa Claus”).
Though it hardly needs an introduction, it’s actually not a single; it’s a track from her 1980 album SURF & SNOW.
By the way, Seiko Matsuda—who received many songs from Yuming—performed an incredibly cute cover of it on her 1982 Christmas album Golden Ribbon, so be sure to check it out!
White LoversKuwata Keisuke

This is a solo single by Keisuke Kuwata, the vocalist of Southern All Stars.
The song, which sings about a poignant winter romance, is often played at ski resorts.
Kuwata’s distinctive voice and the wistful lyrics create a wonderfully evocative atmosphere.
North Wind ~May It Reach You~Makihara Noriyuki

Noriyuki Makihara has many songs tied to each season, to the extent that there are compilation albums themed around spring and summer, and autumn and winter.
Among Makky’s winter songs—alongside classics like “Fuyu ga Hajimaru yo” and “Yuki ni Negai wo”—the one you can’t help but hum is surely “Kitakaze ~Kimi ni Todokimasu you ni~.” It was released as a single in 1992, but the original version, simply titled “Kitakaze,” actually appeared before his major breakthrough: it was included on his debut album “Kimi ga Warau Toki Kimi no Mune ga Itamanai You ni,” and later issued as the B-side to his second single “ANSWER.” The strings and horn arrangements were handled by none other than Takayuki Hattori, and the song is a truly wonderful masterpiece, with lyrics that deftly depict gentle everyday scenes and a beautiful melody that skillfully uses falsetto.
If you listen to it while heading out for winter sports with your partner, it might just fill you with a warm, cozy feeling.
