People go for walks for all kinds of reasons.

And many people also like to listen to some music while they walk, right?

In this article, I’ll introduce plenty of songs that are perfect companions for a stroll.

I’ve selected tracks with a variety of vibes, so please find the ones that match the mood you’re looking for!

Songs that go well with a walk: a perfect playlist for walking (1–10)

Become the windtsuji ayano

Ayano Tsuji – Become the Wind (Music Video)
Become the windtsuji ayano

This is the sixth single by Ayano Tsuji, a singer-songwriter who performs in the relatively rare Japanese style of singing while playing the ukulele.

The song was chosen as the theme for Studio Ghibli’s film The Cat Returns.

With its refreshing intro that starts with clear, transparent guitar sounds and strings, and a gentle singing voice carried by the soft tone of the ukulele, it’s a truly pleasant number.

The tempo is just a bit faster than what’s typically recommended for walking, but if you listen while picturing scenes from the movie, it will help you forget the fatigue of exercise.

True to its title, it lets you feel the breeze—perfect for walking outdoors.

Yama is a musician who chooses not to disclose personal details such as age, hometown, or face, citing reasons like “a lack of self-confidence” and “not wanting my own identity to interfere with the work.” This song, completed entirely through online exchanges without a single in-person meeting with the Vocaloid producer Kujira, who wrote and composed it, has surpassed 200 million streams—truly a track that symbolizes today’s music scene.

With a tempo of BPM 120, perfect for walking, its thrilling melody and light, buoyant feel will put a spring in your step.

It’s a number that helps you forget your fatigue when you listen to it while walking.

A powerful cheer song that traces the emotional journey from searching for the meaning of life and hope to the resolve to take a new step forward.

ONE OK ROCK’s melodious rock sound blends perfectly with vocalist Taka’s emotionally rich voice.

Released in August 2012 as their seventh single, this track also drew attention as the theme song for the film Rurouni Kenshin starring Takeru Satoh.

The protagonist’s determination to overcome past trials and move toward the future aligns beautifully with the movie’s story.

Listen to it while walking, and its driving beat and positive message will give you a push—it’s truly a perfect companion for your workout.

RPGSEKAI NO OWARI

A four-member band, SEKAI NO OWARI, whose fantastical music, live performances, and strong thematic messages have made them truly unique, released this as their sixth single.

Chosen as the theme song for the animated film Crayon Shin-chan: Very Tasty! B-class Gourmet Survival!!, it’s a catchy number with lyrics and arrangements that, true to its title, evoke an RPG.

The march-like rhythm and positive lyrics are sure to put a spring in your step as you head out for a walk.

It’s the perfect song to hype up the adventure that’s about to begin and boost your motivation when you exercise.

DA PUMP / U.S.A. (short ver.)
U.S.A.DA PUMP

This is the 29th single from the dance and vocal group DA PUMP, who made a comeback with their overwhelming vocal prowess and outstanding dance performance.

It’s a cover of a song by Italian singer Joe Yellow, and its catchy choreography—like the “Ii ne dance” and “Invader dance”—along with lyrics and a worldview described as “cheesy-cool,” became a hot topic and turned into a social phenomenon-level hit.

The driving Eurobeat synths and four-on-the-floor beat will boost your energy while walking.

Although it’s a bit faster than the recommended BPM, its poppy vibe turns the strain of exercise into fun, making it a highly recommended track.

An impressive song where the beauty of a dreamlike starry sky intertwines with the poignancy of loss.

Released in November 2011, it is SEKAI NO OWARI’s second major-label single.

Its ethereal sound—delicate piano melodies that evoke twinkling stars combined with a grand string arrangement—gently soothes the heart.

Originally written for the joint NHK and Japan Commercial Broadcasters Association radio campaign, it was later featured as an insert song in the film “Love for Beginners” and used in a Toyota Ractis commercial.

It’s a warm, comforting track that makes you want to take a slow walk while gazing up at the night sky.
