Alan Fitzpatrick is a star regular on prestigious techno labels like Drumcode, lighting up peak-time slots at massive techno festivals.
His works are characterized by catchy appeal that extends beyond pure techno, thanks to sound-making that isn’t confined to the genre and now even resonates with EDM.
CLOSE COMBINED (GLASGOW, LONDON, TOKYO – LIVE)Richie Hawtin

A titan of minimal techno.
When techno was born in Detroit, he was still a boy, watching the scene’s transformation from across the river in Windsor, Ontario, Canada.
He belongs to the generation that experienced the relatively early, formative days.
Richie Hawtin, for his part, has focused on hard-edged machine live sets since around 2019.

IchimaruDJ Nobu

Since 2015, he’s likely the most internationally active Japanese DJ.
He rose to fame with standout performances at the Dekmantel Festival and the original Boiler Room.
His techno—unexpected given his samurai-like, valiant presence—and his sage-like mixing, paired with a spacey selection, are incredibly striking.
As an aside, after one party, I saw him go around the floor greeting each person who had danced until morning; the way he did so left me with a strong impression of his humility and wonderful character.
rainbowDenki Gurūvu

They’re already widely known, having appeared on TV and at major festivals like Fuji Rock, so they hardly need my recommendation.
But for anyone who “hasn’t discovered them yet,” they’re a must-listen: a leading Japanese techno unit with overwhelming popularity.
They resumed activity at the end of 2019, drawing renewed attention from fans.
Like Ken Ishii, they can be considered pioneers who paved the way for Japan’s techno scene!
Midnight HourBoys Noize(Skrillex, Boys Noize, Ty Dolla $ign)

French electro saw a surge in the mid-2010s, and at its center was Boys Noize.
What made him stand out in particular was his techno roots.
Hailing from Germany, he never forgot a techno-oriented approach even during the height of electro’s popularity, while still releasing catchy works that broadened the gateway to the underground scene.
Little RobotAmelie Lens

A hard techno DJ who made a global impact in 2018 and 2019, Amelie Lens has the exceptionally rare background of being a former model and has walked numerous runways.
In 2019, she also focused on her own releases, showcasing her charismatic talent through her work.
Her hallmark is a DJ style that always goes all-out.
Be sure to check her out at least once.
Electronic GenerationsCarl Cox

Even after his 15-year residency at Space Ibiza ended in 2016, his passion for music never waned.
