A wonderful Japanese music band

tricot’s classic and popular songs

Tricot is a rock band that skillfully handles odd time signatures, as symbolized by their catchphrase “non-dance-inducing.” Yet despite their complex song structures, their tracks are irresistibly grooveable—you can dance to them even though they’re “non-dance-inducing,” which is a big part of their appeal.

Their high level of musicianship and powerful live performances are also major draws, making their shows a must-see.

This is the song included at the end of the 1st mini-album “Bakuretsu Toriko-san.” Ikkyu Nakajima, the guitarist and vocalist, delivers a beautifully heartrending performance with her clear, translucent voice.

It’s one of the most popular tracks among tricot’s songs, which showcase many different sides.

This track is included on the 2nd mini album, “Elementary School Kids and the Universe.” The guitar and bass riffs are striking.

At first glance it comes across as powerful and sharp, but the subtle glimpses of weakness and fragility give it an intriguing imbalance that makes it incredibly addictive.

The newly mixed and remastered edition of their first mini-album, Bakuretsu Toriko-san, released on March 19, 2014, includes an acoustic version, while the Battleship MOJO project—organized by the live house where they grew up—features the band recording.

At tricot’s final show with former drummer Komaki, they performed the band version to symbolize taking a new step forward.

The wistful lyrics and distinctive chords seem to carry you to the seaside.

Super Summertricot

The intro guitar is really cool.

It’s a lively, fast-paced track, but the way the vocals are varied gives me a strange feeling, almost like I’m listening to a different song.

From there toward the end, it feels like everything opens up, making it a very pleasant track.

POOLtricot

This track is the second song on the album THE.

The first track, called pool side, serves as an intro-like piece to POOL, and when played back-to-back, the two flow together so seamlessly that it feels like a single song—so cool you can’t help but get drawn in.

The stark shifts in intensity make it a very satisfying listen.

Etricot

This is their fourth single, born from a perfect blend of exhilarating speed and playful spirit.

It’s the ideal entry point for experiencing the unpredictable charm of their music.

After the drummer’s departure, it serves as a fitting, high-energy track to mark their bold new start and opening sprint.

Each section composed in complex time signatures enhances their unique worldview.

The lyrics are highly original and make you want to ponder their meaning.

Because the time signatures outside the chorus are intricate, the chorus feels very open, making it a track that keeps the listener engaged.
