Famous and popular songs by Tsuru

Let me introduce the songs of Tsuru, the ambassadors of excitement and bittersweetness.

When they first formed, they performed dressed in 1970s fashion: Afro hairstyles, boldly patterned shirts dubbed “kimo shirts,” and boot-cut pants.

The members are classmates from Tsurugashima Nishi Junior High School in Saitama Prefecture, and they took their band name, Tsuru, from the school’s name.

They’re a band that continues to deliver passionate, positive messages.

Also tied in through the Afro connection, this track was released under the collaborative name “Tsuru & Wandering Afro Tanaka,” and is characterized by a melody that evokes the dance floor.

The lyrics are set on a dance floor just before dawn—everyone’s starting to feel tired, but they don’t want this joyful time to end.

secrettsuru

It’s a song that seems to portray a hidden love that can’t be confessed or put into words.

It finely depicts that faintly frustrating feeling: your eyes keep following the person you’re drawn to, you want to tell them how you feel but can’t find the right moment, and you’re searching for that very chance.

THAT’S MEtsuru

It’s a powerful, exuberant anthem of self-affirmation that feels like it’s telling you: if you’re only being serious, things get dull—live more as your authentic self.

Even a life full of detours that don’t go smoothly has its own kind of you-ness, and the song teaches you to see that as part of who you are.

Tsuruno’s classic and popular songs (11–20)

Endless blue skytsuru

Crane – A Sky of Endless Blue

Around this song was a time of major change for them; starting around then, they retired the Afro that had already been their trademark and took on new challenges.

The first half of the song depicts the struggle of days spent hesitating, unable to summon that final bit of courage, while the second half portrays the process of overcoming it.

It’s a very gentle, soothing piece.

common divisortsuru

Even people who love each other deeply are, after all, different individuals, and it’s only natural that they drift out of sync.

Even so, this is a gentle song about reaching out to one another—about finding similarities and common ground and going on together.

Beyond the nighttsuru

Tsurugi is a band that first catches your eye with their look: afro hair and glasses.

Their hairstyles are more conventional now, but many people probably remember the band because of that striking image (lol).

And the band name “Tsuru” is intriguing too, right? It’s said to come from their hometown, Tsurugashima City in Saitama Prefecture.

They’ve been active without any member changes, and their energetic songs have made them popular.

They also drew attention for providing the theme song to the live-action film adaptation of the popular manga Afro Tanaka.

Life is Partytsuru

As the title suggests, it’s an upbeat, motivational song with the vibe that life is a party.

It conveys the message that there’s no use dwelling on sad or painful things—let’s laugh it all off and keep moving forward.
