A song by America’s Foster about the death of an aging plantation master and the Black slaves who worked there mourning him in sorrow.

It’s a piece so famous that renowned violinists often choose it for their recitals.
It’s relatively easy even for beginners and particularly demands basic skills.
Perhaps because the composer, Kreisler, was himself a violinist, the scales bring out the full charm of the instrument.

This is an easy dance piece in a waltz style with a triple meter that doesn’t require many advanced skills.
It’s even more enjoyable to play with piano accompaniment.
It’s perfect for practicing position shifts and a gentle, relaxed vibrato.

The original piece is an Oboe Sonata (in F major, HWV 363a), and there are also arrangements for flute sonata.
This fourth piece is performed on various instruments such as piano and violin.
The bourrée is a dance that originated in France and Spain, and harpsichord pieces by Handel and Bach are well known examples.
LargoAntonio Vivaldi

This is the second movement of “Winter,” the fourth concerto in Vivaldi’s violin concerto set The Four Seasons.
Each movement is accompanied by an Italian sonnet, and for the Largo it reads: “By the fireside, quietly content, while outside the rain drenches all things.”
Country RoadJohn Denver

This is a signature song by John Denver, one of America’s leading singer-songwriters.
Released in 1971, it is included on the album Poems, Prayers & Promises.
The lyrics, which sing of a deep love for one’s hometown and the beauty of nature, are sure to resonate with listeners.
Its simple, easy-to-remember melody makes it ideal for violin practice and a great resource for developing bow control.
As a classic that was even chosen as an official state song of West Virginia, it’s well worth giving it a try.
