Chills down your spine. A collection of Vocaloid songs that are scary but irresistibly listenable.

One reason VOCALOID became widespread is that it offers a vocalist who sings exactly as the creator envisions.

Even when using the same voice library, the content of the works varies enormously.

Love songs, cute cheer songs, rock and hip-hop, R&B—and some are even scary.

So in this article, we’ve put together a selection of VOCALOID tracks that will send chills down your spine.

As you listen with trepidation, you’ll find yourself addicted—every track is that compelling!

Take the plunge into the deep world of VOCALOID!

Chills Down Your Spine: A Collection of Scary Yet Irresistibly Listenable Vocaloid Songs (21–30)

Jason GirlLadyMonsters.

An eerie yet strangely cute electronic tune inspired by Friday the 13th.

Created by the Vocaloid producer duo LadyMonsters., composed of Takuma and Suika Mii, it was released in July 2024.

The rhythmic, mysterious sound pairs perfectly with the husky vocals, making it irresistibly groove-inducing.

The lyrics, which directly reflect the perilous mindset of the protagonist, “Jason Girl,” are another highlight.

If you enjoyed this track, be sure to meet the other monsters too!

Tie and Untie, Rakshasa and SkeletonBee

Hachi MV 'Tie and Untie: Rakshasa and Corpse' HACHI / Musunde Hiraite Rasetsu to Mukuro
Tie it, open it—Rasetsu and the corpse are eight.

Speaking of Hachi, as many of you may know, that’s the Vocaloid producer name of singer-songwriter Kenshi Yonezu.

As expected—both the videos and the sound are incredibly polished.

The melody has a feel like a Japanese children’s song, yet casually mixes in unsettling words, and taken together it’s downright scary.

His deep command of language and skillful use of it are truly impressive.

Loop the RoomNEW!Lushino

Loop the Room feat. Hatsune Miku / “Looping the Rooms” ft. Hatsune Miku
Loop the Room NEW! Lushino

It’s a track that draws you into that strange feeling of almost breaking free but never quite escaping.

Created by Lushino for the anonymous submission event Colorless Transparent Festival 3, held in November 2025, the song takes inspiration from the urban legend “The Backrooms.” With electronic sounds, it conveys a maze-like sense of confinement and the cyclical sensation of endlessly looping through the same place.

A dark worldview unfolds, as if you’re sinking deeper into a dream.

Magical DoctorMARETU

Magical Doctor MARETU

This is exactly the kind of opening that screams “Vocaloid.” Above all, the visuals and sound alone evoke fear.

The lyrics line up with simple words, yet the way the voice is crafted and the backing track are incredibly frightening.

It feels like a work that would be impossible for a human to reproduce.

I think this is a crucial aspect of making Vocaloid music.

I highly recommend it as a target or benchmark for creators.

I'm sorry, I'm sorry.Kikuo

Kikuo – I’m sorry, I’m sorry
Sorry, sorry, Kikuo.

If you listen closely, it’s a very frightening song.

A desire to control someone precisely because you love them.

The sad truth of raising a hand even though you know it’s wrong.

The child’s-eye-view world woven by the lyrics brings waves of sorrow and fear the more you listen.

It’s a song that inevitably makes you reflect on your surroundings and on society.

Dear Sir/Madam,Pepoyo

Despite its pop soundscape, it draws you into a frightening world—the gap between the two is captivating.

This track by Pepoyo, a multi-talented creator who also handles the illustrations and video, was released in March 2023.

It hits far too close to home, so I won’t quote it here as-is, but I can’t help thinking that only Pepoyo could make a topic like this so catchy.

It’s precisely because it’s so cute that it gives you chills.

Once you’re hooked, there’s no getting out.

Happy Heroine SniperJorujin

This is a song by Jorujin, also known as Dark Fairy Tale P.

As you might guess from the producer name and the title “Happy Heroine Sniper,” this work includes parodies of four fairy tales.

It’s a thought-provoking masterpiece that highlights contradictions in classic stories.

It was released in 2016.
