If you had a dream you wanted to pursue even at the cost of hurting someone important—like a parent or a lover—which would you choose? The protagonist of this song ended up “showing you hell” in their pursuit of a dream.

And yet there’s no regret; it’s precisely because it was a dream worth chasing even at the expense of someone precious that they staked everything on it.

In our everyday lives, how often do we really think about the end of life? If we drift through each day without much thought, we might find ourselves at the very end thinking, “This isn’t how it was supposed to be.” Instead, as this song suggests, let’s live each day so that when life comes to a close, we can truly say, “Yes, this was the life I wanted.”

Nothing lasts foreverMaroon 5

Released in May 2007, this song is included on Maroon 5’s second album, “It Won’t Be Soon Before Long.” The lyrics convey the idea that where there is a meeting, a parting will eventually come, expressing the sense of loss and sorrow that follows losing something precious.

At the same time, it’s an encouraging song that, conversely, affirms that where there is a parting, there will surely be another meeting, embracing a forward-looking outlook.
