Formed in 2004 by a group of young members, they quickly rose to prominence with a sound influenced by screamo and post-hardcore, yet strongly reflecting an admiration for classic LA metal-style bands, ultimately making their debut on the prestigious Epitaph Records.

It’s also worth noting that Ronnie Radke—now active with Falling in Reverse—was their original vocalist, and Craig Mabbitt, formerly of Blessthefall, is currently their second vocalist.

As mentioned, while they carry a distinctly 2000s emo sensibility, they’ve gained popularity by making a hard rock sound that shines in arenas their own, so if you’re expecting purely emo-style wistfulness, it might feel a bit different.

That said, tracks like the featured “Broken Heart” and the early classic “Not Good Enough for Truth in Cliché” are packed with melodies brimming with emo-esque heartache.

A pop-punk band from Australia that’s hugely popular not only in their home country but around the world, including Japan.

Also known by the nickname “5SOS,” they’re an indispensable presence in the pop-punk scene since the 2010s.

Because of their good looks and their connection to their agency seniors One Direction, they’re sometimes treated like a boy band, but they’re a bona fide band who play their instruments and handle songwriting and composing.
