A compilation of Western songs with titles that start with “one day”
You probably often listen to Western music and find yourself thinking, “This word shows up in titles a lot, doesn’t it?” The same goes for Japanese music, of course, but it’s interesting to see the kinds of words artists tend to favor.
In this article, we researched songs—across genres—whose titles start with words that seem likely to appear frequently in lyrics, with “one day” as a prime example.
Literally, it means “a certain day” in Japanese, but it really feels like the kind of phrase that would be sung, doesn’t it? Be sure to check it out!

One DayElla Mai

Ella Mai is one of the most acclaimed female singers in today’s R&B scene.
Early on, she dropped hit tunes centered around trendy slow jams, but lately she’s been showing greater musical range, releasing tracks that incorporate elements of neo-psychedelia and nu-disco.
Her track “One Day” falls into that vein as well, crafted into a sharp slow jam infused with a touch of neo-psychedelic essence.
One DayImagine Dragons

Imagine Dragons is a globally acclaimed alternative rock band.
Even if you’re not into bands or rock music, you’ve probably heard their songs at least once.
Among their catalog, the track I especially recommend is One Day.
It’s included on their 2021 album Mercury – Act 1, which centers on the theme of death.
The album came about after five of Dan Reynolds’s friends and acquaintances passed away in quick succession.
As the closing track of the album, One Day carries a message of overcoming grief and bringing smiles back to their fans.
One Day (At A Time)John Lennon

John Lennon, a great artist who continues to influence many musicians even after his passing.
Needless to say, he was a member of the Beatles.
He created many timeless songs, but one I particularly recommend is One Day (At A Time).
This piece was inspired by religion and quotes lyrics from Matthew 6:34 in the New Testament.
It’s a wonderful track that lets you appreciate not only his musicality but also his ideas.
Be sure to check it out.
One DayLovejoy

Lovejoy is a rookie band formed in 2021.
Led by William Gold, a popular YouTuber in the UK, the band specializes in indie rock.
If you’ve been following the rock scene, you’ve probably heard of them.
Among their tracks, the one I especially recommend is One Day.
Released in 2021, it opens with the shocking lyric, “Why did you kill the cat I used to own?” While many might expect an extreme song from that start, it’s surprisingly mellow thereafter, carrying a positive message along the lines of “I’ll get over this heartbreak one day.”
One Day In Your LifeMichael Jackson

Michael Jackson, known as the King of Pop.
Those in their teens today may not be familiar with him, but he was one of the most prominent singers from the 1970s to the 1980s.
He is known for his wide range of styles—from dance music to emotional ballads—and his song “One Day In Your Life” is especially moving.
His breathy vocal technique is one of his trademarks, but in this piece, you can savor a warm, enveloping vocal quality that differs from his dance-oriented tracks.
