Addison Wyman, born in the United States in 1832, was active as a composer and educator.
Although only a handful of works are attributed to him, he contributed to the spread of music education—founding a conservatory, among other efforts—so it is said that a monument bearing the engraved score of Wyman’s representative work stands in Washington, D.C., the capital of the United States.
