The song title, “Onna-Tobagawa,” refers to a real first-class river that flows through Matsumoto City in Nagano Prefecture.
She is an enka singer with an unusual background: she began studying classical ballet at the age of four and, upon graduating from high school, performed as a stage dancer at Tokyo Disneyland.

It was released in 2009 as Hiroshi Oe’s debut single.
Composed under the pen name Joji Hara by Saburo Kitajima—whom Oe had long hoped to apprentice under and regards as his mentor—the song depicts a man who is always laughed at for being clumsy and slow, resolving to one day become a big success and rising to his feet.
