Read-aloud: ‘The Miracle That Happened on Halloween’

[Anime Picture Book Read-Aloud] Enjoy Halloween Even More! A Picture Book of Ghosts and Sweets That Kids Love — The Miracle That Happened on Halloween
Read-aloud: 'The Miracle That Happened on Halloween'

This is a heartwarming story about Ruby, a cat ghost who collects treats on her way to a party at the castle, and the fireflies and kittens she meets along the way.

Excitedly heading to her very first Halloween party, Ruby sets off.

On the way, she encounters a firefly searching for food for the children.

Seeing the firefly in need, Ruby decides to share the treats she has gathered.

Ruby then heads back into town to collect more treats—will she make it to the party in time? This read-aloud picture book delivers a gentle message: “Lend a hand to those in need.”

Sketchbook Theater: “Transforming Little Ghost”

[Sketchbook Theater] How to Enjoy, Perform, and Make the Transforming Little Ghost!!
Sketchbook Theater: “Transforming Little Ghost”

Sketchbook theater is popular alongside paper puppet shows in childcare settings.

This format uses a sketchbook, and the story unfolds as you turn the pages.

It’s not just about flipping pages—you can add slits to create mechanisms, turn songs into pictures, and try various arrangements, so please use the videos as a reference and give it a try.

Since everything fits inside the sketchbook, it’s easy to store and manage, which is a nice bonus.

You can also create original stories that children are likely to enjoy.

Halloween fingerplay

[Fingerplay] [Halloween] You can enjoy it at daycare, too!!
Halloween fingerplay

Here’s a hand game perfect for Halloween.

The moves aren’t difficult, so even infants can copy them and have fun right away.

Doing it together makes it twice as enjoyable.

It’s an adorable and funny hand game that’s sure to make everyone smile.

You can also use it for counting play, so it’s great for preschoolers too! Toward the end, keeping your balance gets tricky, so there may be moments where everyone loses their posture and bursts into laughter.

Even children who are afraid of ghosts will likely enjoy this, since the hand game is cute and engaging.

Finger-play eurhythmics “Ghost Sheet”

September–October Autumn: Halloween hand play song eurhythmics [Ghost Sheet] for nursery and kindergarten — Halloween song
Finger-play eurhythmics “Ghost Sheet”

This is a play song called “Ghost Sheet.” Kids love to “put it on, hide, and pop out,” right? This song includes all of those elements.

Sing it at a Halloween party and you’re sure to capture the children’s hearts! You can even use a big sheet so lots of kids can play at once.

To prevent suffocation or anything wrapping around the neck, prepare a semi-transparent handkerchief to use as the sheet and play in a way that keeps the children’s faces and condition visible.

Quiz tournament at the origami theater

[Nursery/Kindergarten] Quiz Show with an Origami Theater 🎩✨ [Perfect for Halloween 🎃 and Birthday Parties 🎂]
Quiz tournament at the origami theater

This is a quiz event using paper puppets: one side is an origami animal, and the other side has a face drawn in the same color as the animal.

For Halloween, you can switch the animals to ghosts or jack-o’-lanterns to enhance the atmosphere.

Try using Halloween-like colors for the origami, such as orange, purple, and black.

If you make them larger, you can present them in front of a big group of children, making it perfect as entertainment for a Halloween party.

Teachers can also brainstorm together about which motifs to include!

Bakechama the GhostKeropons

Obake no Bake-chama / Keropons [A fun ghost exercise “Obake no Bake-chama”! ]
Bakechama the Ghost Keropons

The ghost Bakechama, sung and danced by Keropons—famous for “Ebikanics”! This time, even little kids can easily sing and dance along.

Bakechama is a ghost that can transform into anything, but even though it’s a ghost itself, it’s afraid of ghosts.

Still, it wants to surprise everyone by transforming into all sorts of things! On Halloween, try becoming whatever you like—just like Bakechama—and surprise the people around you.

The humorous moves are easy to incorporate into everyday childcare, too.

Try dancing in the morning or evening so everyone can learn the moves together.

Theatrical Halloween

Theatrical Halloween

Speaking of Halloween, why not put together all those fun elements like dressing up and getting treats and try putting on a play? Dress up as ghosts and witches, and turn the classic tradition of giving and receiving candy into a heartwarming story! You can, of course, create an original tale, or adapt the stories from lots of Halloween-themed picture books for the stage—both are great! It would be wonderful if nursery and kindergarten teachers, as well as parents and guardians, could work together to make a lovely play for the children.

You can also enjoy it as pretend play.

We can’t wait to see the children’s smiles.
