Hailing from Daisen City in Akita Prefecture, she has been highly regarded for her vocal ability since childhood and made her debut in 2011 with the theme song for the game series Haki.

Grounded in J-pop, she expresses a wide range of styles from acoustic solo performances to full band sounds.

Her song “Nee” was chosen as the theme for Daisen City’s official tourism PR video, and “Bokura no Ashioto” was selected as the theme song for a TV drama on Akita Broadcasting—proof of her heartfelt connection to her hometown.

R&B soul singer Chiah.

Born in Akita Prefecture, she began making music at age 13 and enrolled in the Music Department at Osaka University of Arts.

In 2015, she was selected for Shikao Suga’s “Hitori Sugar Tour” and also embarked on her own tour in New York, performing under the name Sasaki Chika.

Aiming for a global career, she changed her stage name to Cikah in 2020.

“GO TO JIGOKU,” which confronts invisible slander and defamation on social media, delivers a powerful message by expressing its lyrics through comments.

While incorporating elements of Black music that influenced her in childhood, her sound remains catchy—an artist who captivates with highly addictive grooves and a silky voice.

This is Kazuhiko Yamahira, a singer-songwriter from Iitagawa, Minamiakita District, Akita Prefecture (now Katagami City).

He made his album debut in 1972 with the release of Broadcast-Prohibited Songs, and the title track, true to its name, was banned from broadcast, which became a hot topic.

This is Kazuki Tomokawa, a folk singer who debuted in 1974.

He is also active as a painter.

In junior high school, he encountered the works of poet Chuya Nakahara and began writing poetry himself.

Around the age of 20, after hearing songs by Nobuyasu Okabayashi, he set his sights on becoming a folk singer, was discovered by Ryudo Uzaki, and made his debut.

rayFujiwara Motoo

Motoharu Fujiwara, the vocalist of the rock band BUMP OF CHICKEN—known for their highly narrative world-building that resonates with many listeners—was born in Akita City, Akita Prefecture.

He writes and composes nearly all of the band’s songs, and their distinctive musicality has won widespread support.

After starting out independently in 1999, the band went on to rack up hits, and in 2013 they dominated the charts with two best-of albums.

They have won numerous awards, including at the SPACE SHOWER MUSIC AWARDS, and their richly narrative songs have resonated with many visual works, such as anime theme songs.

Their creative style of waiting for the moment a song is born may be what leads to universally affecting songs that speak straight to the heart.

Fujiwara’s voice—ranging from urgent high tones to gentle whispers—could be called the beating heart of the band.

TOKYO Chewing GumMC MISAKI(RHYMEBERRY)

MC MISAKI, a native of Akita Prefecture, joined the idol rap unit RHYMEBERRY as a member in 2015 after the group was formed in 2011.

She graduated from the group in 2017, and RHYMEBERRY itself disbanded in 2019.

At the live show where she announced her graduation from RHYMEBERRY, she declared she would take on the idol audition program Last Idol.

On that show, she performed under her real name, Misaki Kimura, as a member of the unit Someday Somewhere formed within the program.

She ended her entertainment career in 2021.
