Kousuke Atari is a singer-songwriter from Amami Oshima in Kagoshima Prefecture.

His signature song, “Hana,” has captured the hearts of many listeners and remains a beloved hit.

His defining trait is a singing style rooted in Amami folk music, known as Shima-uta.

Though he began studying Amami folk music on his own, he even once won a competition in the genre.

By incorporating folk elements—such as distinctive vocal ornamentation (kobushi) and falsetto—into pop music, he creates songs with a unique charm that only he can deliver.
