A rock band formed by six childhood friends from Kusatsu City, Shiga Prefecture.

With piercingly direct lyrics, a heated and powerful vocal, and a backing band that builds songs with meticulously calculated playing, you could say they’re a high-level group that leaves no openings.

Although the band is made up entirely of men, they’re also famous as a “band that makes men cry,” having drawn 45,000 attendees to a men-only show in 2019.

They radiate an overwhelming presence and are an indispensable force for the future of Japan’s rock scene.

Ponpoko is a tanuki ninja VTuber based in Koka City, Shiga Prefecture.

She began independently in February 2018 and has been sharing unique content with the hope of energizing her hometown of Koka.

Her planning skills are a major draw, seen in her duo activities with her partner Peanuts-kun and in projects like the 24-hour streaming event “Ponpoko 24.” She has also released many original songs, including “Hana Tonari” and “Kafka.” She’s the perfect creator for anyone who wants to explore the possibilities of entertainment.

Yua Jinno, the vocalist of SARD UNDERGROUND who carries on ZARD’s music, hails from Shiga Prefecture.

The band began activities in 2019 and gained many fans through covers imbued with deep respect for ZARD.

Their music was even selected as an ending theme for the TV anime Detective Conan, so many of you may recognize her voice.

In September 2024, she transitioned to a solo project, taking a new step by writing lyrics and more.

Be sure to let yourself be captivated by her pure, straightforward singing voice.

T.M.Revolution is the solo project of Takanori Nishikawa, who debuted as the vocalist of the visual kei band Luis-Mary.

He’s an artist whose music videos often make waves, such as WHITE BREATH, where he passionately sings in a blizzard, and HIGH PRESSURE, featuring a striking outfit wrapped in black bands while performing over the sea.

He also serves as the Shiga Prefecture Hometown Tourism Ambassador, and since 2009 he has hosted Inazuma Rock Fes, one of the largest outdoor music events in western Japan held on the shores of Lake Biwa, making him a musician brimming with love for Shiga.

The rock band Ultra Tower, known for having their signature song “Kibō no Uta” selected as the theme song for the anime Food Wars! (Shokugeki no Soma), also hails from Shiga Prefecture.

Vocal-guitarist Kengo Ohama’s slightly husky high-tone voice brings a refreshing feel and really defines the band’s character.

Their classic guitar-rock approach is extremely pleasant and exhilarating.

Although they disbanded in 2017 to the regret of many, former vocalist Kengo Ohama has since been active as a member of shannons.

Composer Hiroko Sebu, who grew up in Kusatsu City, Shiga Prefecture.

She is a musician with two sides: a composer of film and visual music, and an artist who performs under the name sébuhiroko.

Since her 2008 debut with the album “Ouchi wa Doko?” (Where Is Home?), she has scored numerous films and TV dramas.

Many may have heard her delicate melodies in the NHK morning drama “Beppin-san.” For her music for the film “Karaoke Iko!” (Let’s Go Karaoke!), she won the Best Music Award at the 48th Japan Academy Prize.

She has also arranged for and supported Mr.Children, demonstrating talent that transcends genres.

Her narrative, classically rooted music is perfect for those who love films and the beautiful sound of the piano.

Pour the oil!Takemoto Yui (Sakurazaka46)

Yui Takemoto, who is active in Sakurazaka46, joined the group after the Sakamichi Joint Audition in 2018.

Within the group, she has taken part in songs such as “Start over!” and, since the group was renamed Sakurazaka46, she has steadily raised her profile, being selected for the senbatsu as many as seven times.

Beyond music, she has also expanded her activities by leveraging her bright personality—since 2023, she has been a regular on a radio program.
