Origami Persimmon

Let’s make a softly rounded, three-dimensional persimmon.
You can make it with orange and green origami for the persimmon and its leaf.
First, fold the origami in half, then in half again, and use scissors to trim off the corners.
Open it up, then use chopsticks or a similar tool to curl it inward, creating a gentle, puffy shape, and secure the top point with wood glue or similar adhesive.
Make the calyx and leaf in the same way.
Cut the green origami into a quarter-size piece, fold it into quarters the same way, trim the corners, then place it on top of the persimmon and glue it down.
Wreath of nuts and berries

Perfect for autumn decor! This is a wreath made with nuts and cones.
Prepare the wreath base in advance.
For the natural materials, try using acorns, dawn redwood cones, and other items you picked up on a walk.
Once you’re ready, start gluing the nuts and cones onto the base.
Arrange them carefully to fill in any gaps.
Adding colorful leaves and berries will make it feel even more autumnal.
Finally, thread a string through the top of the base, and it’s complete.
Try hanging it on a wall or door!
Autumn swag

Swags are very popular as stylish interior decor items.
Even if you’re not used to working with fresh or dried flowers, why not try making a swag? You can use your favorite autumn plants, or if real flowers feel a bit daunting, try artificial ones.
First, loosely spread out the shape to get a feel for the design, then gather it together with wire.
To finish, hide the wire with jute twine or a natural-looking ribbon—and you’re done.
Acorns made of paper

Here’s an idea to make cute acorns, the fruits of autumn trees, using various colors of construction paper.
They’ll be colorful, but if you choose chic tones or use kraft paper, the result feels much more grown-up and perfectly autumnal.
The method is detailed but the work itself is simple: tightly roll long, thin strips of paper so they don’t loosen, then slide them out from the center and shape them into the cap and nut, and fit them together.
Rolling paper is a simple, repetitive task, but it lets you focus and get absorbed—quietly enjoyable, in its own way.
Pumpkin made of paper

Speaking of autumn, it’s the season when pumpkin tastes especially good.
And of course, October means Halloween, so it’s also the time when you see pumpkin displays all around town.
Let’s make a cute, three-dimensional pumpkin using construction paper! First, create a single template.
Then place it on top of an accordion-folded sheet of colored construction paper, cut along the template, and quickly mass-produce the parts.
After that, glue the pieces together and attach the stem at the top—that’s it! Making several and turning them into a garland would be adorable, too.
acorn garland

Acorns are truly emblematic of autumn.
Let’s make a garland from wool that evokes acorns of all kinds—big ones, tiny pinky-tip-sized ones, round and rolly ones, long slender ones, even pairs that grow together.
For a natural look, use real acorn caps.
You can use ready-made wool balls sold at 100-yen shops, or make your own using wool felt.
Shape them into spheres, then pinch and roll them with your fingers to create acorn forms.
Attach the caps with a hot glue gun, thread a string through, and your garland is complete.

Maple leaf made from a single sheet of origami paper

Try paper cutting! Here are ideas for making autumn leaves with a single sheet of origami paper.
How about creating a motif of cute, connected maple leaves to decorate your room? This time, two folding methods are introduced, so choose based on the age of the maker and how easy they are to do.
It’ll be fun to pick origami colors that match your image of maple leaves, such as red, orange, yellow, or brown.
When sketching with a pen, it’s also good to incorporate the distinctive features of maple leaves.
