Nishifuji Parkback number

This song is said to be an avant-garde piece connected to Back Number’s signature track “Hanataba.” Lovers talk in a winter park, their breath white in the cold.
He searches for the right words, bewildered by feelings that, for some reason, don’t quite align.
They’re very important—words to convey his feelings.
But he just can’t say the crucial ones… And then, the scene a week later is sung about in “Hanataba,” continuing from there.
overlapback number

Track 1 of “Nogashita Sakana” (“The One That Got Away”).
An up-tempo rock number with a pleasantly catchy chorus rhythm! The lyrics are quintessential back number—overflowing with tender-hearted vulnerability.
The line “Hold me tight—then maybe, just maybe, I can go back to the me you want” is especially memorable.
Great pick for cover bands, too.
Blue Springback number

This is the 7th single, written after reading the script, as the theme song for Masami Nagasawa’s starring drama “High School Entrance Exam.” It portrays the inner conflicts born between adolescence and adulthood, likening the struggle to live while clinging to one’s convictions to a dance.
Are we the ones dancing, or are we being made to dance—or perhaps dancing for someone else…?
A Windy Dayback number

This is a spring tearjerker that makes you empathize so deeply you could cry—the chorus is so unbearably poignant, as it recalls past memories and everyday moments with a lover, and keeps blaming oneself for wallowing in sadness.
The ending feels like the path has already been set somewhere, and Back Number’s songs never fail to capture my heart.
Urban lifeback number
It was included as a coupling track on the 11th single “Heroine,” released on January 21, 2015, but it seems the song had already been completed around 2010.
It’s a song about two people who aren’t officially dating, depicting a mature relationship.
While many love songs chase dreams and ideals, this one feels realistic.

My nameback number

I really like the way the lyrics are expressed.
Although the lyrics are from a male perspective, they don’t make women feel uncomfortable at all—in fact, it’s a song that makes you feel warm and fuzzy.
I especially liked the line “I’m yours.” I think it’s a song that soothes you no matter how many times you listen to it.
petalback number

Among back number’s most popular songs, these lyrics portray a man who struggles to recover from heartbreak.
His aching desire to turn back time and be together again resonates deeply with students feeling down after a breakup.
It’s a song I’d want to hear at graduation.
