Just as there are stars in the skyBEGIN

Just as there are stars in the skyBEGIN

This soothing classic channels the pain of heartbreak into the beauty of nature, warming the heart.

BEGIN covered it in 1997, and it was used as the theme song for the film “What We Loved.” The gentle vocals and Okinawan breeze in the sound resonate deeply with listeners.

The lyrics are striking, likening lost dreams and hopes to stars and sandy shores.

It’s a song that gives you the courage to look forward when you’ve had a rough day—perfect for those starting anew or healing from a broken heart.

With BEGIN’s music, why not take your first step forward, too?

This is a fun 2018 summer track by BEGIN with a unique title that’s a playful twist on a Japanese proverb.

As the name suggests, it’s a song about food, mentioning all kinds of dishes in the lyrics that will make you hungry.

It’s a delightful, witty tune that cleverly intertwines the deliciousness of rice with the departure of “you,” delivering a playful, pun-filled message.

Grandma Obaa’s Signature Bomb Hot PotBEGIN

Grandma Obaa's Signature Bomb Hot PotBEGIN

This work is a song that celebrates Okinawan food culture and warmth through Grandma’s home cooking.

Traditional dishes like rafute (braised pork belly) and goya champuru (stir-fried bitter melon) appear one after another, so you can almost taste the flavors of home just by listening.

Released in July 2002, it was also used in 2012 as the opening theme for a tokusatsu drama on Okinawa Television.

It’s recommended not only for those interested in Okinawan food and culture, but also for anyone who wants to experience the charm of Okinawa through BEGIN’s music.

SouseiBEGIN

Sousei / BEGIN Ending Live of the 10th Okinawa International Movie Festival: Island-Wide Big Festival
SouseiBEGIN

This is a super up-tempo party song from BEGIN, who are more often associated with smooth, heartfelt ballads.

The beat is intense, there’s even a collaboration with a rapper, and vocalist Higa Eisho’s usually gentle voice is pushed into a rougher, more forceful delivery for this track.

Even so, the signature BEGIN flavor—like the sanshin and other traditional Japanese instruments—remains intact, delivering that reliable Okinawan quality.

It’s a song I’d recommend even to newcomers to BEGIN.

BalloonBEGIN

BEGIN / “Balloon” (from the DVD of the album “BEGIN no Marsha Shora”)
BalloonBEGIN

This is a track included on the album “Begin no Marcha Chora,” which was produced based on the Brazilian music style Marcha.

Released in 2015.

It’s an irresistibly bright, hype-raising song.

As you listen, energy wells up from deep inside and brings a smile to your face.

It makes you want to dance along to the rhythm.

The lyrics are distinctive for reflecting the era, featuring references such as the names of passenger-cargo ships that were active during the Meiji period.

Voice of the SeaBEGIN

BEGIN / Voice of the Sea [Umi no Koe] MV short ver. (au Santaro commercial song)
Voice of the SeaBEGIN

It’s well-known from the au commercial where actor Kenta Kiritani, portraying Urashima Taro, sang it, but the song was written by BEGIN.

They also did a self-cover of the track.

It’s a refreshing tune that conjures up images of Okinawa’s blue sea, white sandy beaches, and clear blue sky.

The melody and lyrics evoke a sense of nostalgia and bring back fond memories from the past.
