Bento lunches make your heart race with excitement—what’s inside, how colorful it is! For kids who usually have school lunches and only sometimes get a bento, that excitement is on a whole different level.
The perfect song to listen to before digging into such an exciting bento is “Obentō (Lunch).” It’s a track that lets you feel all the joys related to bento, from the thrill of opening it to the delight of eating it.
The song even includes the greetings said before and after eating, as well as the rules to follow when having your bento, so sing along and remember to follow them while you eat!
The Bento SongPinkittsu

It’s a fun song themed around lunchboxes that kids absolutely love! Pinkfong’s “The Lunchbox Song” features a bright, catchy melody that sings about colorful ingredients and what’s inside a bento.
With a focus on food education, it lets children enjoy learning about well-balanced meals like rice balls, sandwiches, and vegetables.
The lyrics are rhythmic and easy to remember, so kids will be humming along in no time.
It’s sure to make making lunch and mealtimes more fun! Parents and teachers can sing together too—enjoy a wonderful time filled with smiles.
The Bento Bus

Obentou Bus is a bento box imagined as a bus into which various menu items hop on one after another.
As the bento-box bus travels through different foods, it gets called over by each item and they board in turn.
Numbers also appear, playing on the number of items and their names, so you can enjoy a bit of counting fun.
You can even use your fingers to show the numbers and play it as a hand-action song.
It’s also recommended to sing this song while helping pack a bento!
The Bento Box SongSakushi: Kayama Yoshiko/Shokyoku: Komori Akihiro

“Obentōbako no Uta” is a fun song about packing all kinds of dishes into a lunchbox.
It’s also a counting song, so you can practice numbers while you sing! You can play by making rice balls to match the lyrics, or by using your fingers to show how many items you’re putting in.
And you won’t just make a lunch for yourself—there’s a tiny lunch for little ants and a big lunch for big elephants, too.
As times have changed, versions with updated lunchbox fillings have also been sung, so try creating a lunchbox that suits your own tastes!
The Bento Box Song (Let Me Go)Gō Hiroshi & Tomomi

A rock version of “Obentōbako no Uta,” the song where you pack a bento starting with an onigiri as the base.
It’s performed by the male–female duo Hiroshi Go & Tomomi, who drew attention after appearing on the 2011 comedy show “Arabikidan.” They released this “Obentōbako no Uta” as their major-label debut single in 2015.
While the lyrics are slightly rearranged, they’re basically the same.
Kids who love cool-sounding music might prefer this version.
Once you can sing it, try the sandwich version to this melody too!
