Book-style advent calendars are so cute, aren’t they? You can buy them, but why not try making one yourself in your favorite design? The process is easier than you’d think.

For the outer cover, place and glue three pieces of thick paper—front cover, spine, and back cover—onto a sheet of colored construction paper, then fold the excess paper inward and adhere it on the inside.

Next, decorate both the outside and inside with paper featuring any illustrations or patterns you like.

Make the boxes using colored construction paper as well.

Once the boxes are ready, attach them all to the inside of the cover and stick numbered papers on the lids.

Finally, attach two ribbons to the inside of the cover for tying it closed, and you’re done!
