Advent calendar made with paper chains
How about making an Advent calendar to count down to Christmas Day? You can spend the days leading up to Christmas with your children, full of excitement and anticipation! Here, we introduce an Advent calendar made with a paper chain.
Making paper chains is also great training to help develop children’s fine motor skills.
Plus, because you cut off each link from the bottom in order to count down, even small children who don’t yet grasp dates can visually understand how many days are left until Christmas.
If you add motifs like Santa, reindeer, or snowmen to the top of the chain, it will really enhance the Christmas atmosphere!
Stained-glass-style tree made with transparent origami
It’s a stained-glass-style tree you can enjoy decorating on walls or windows! By using transparent origami paper, you get a lovely see-through look.
Fold construction paper accordion-style to make the tree base, and cut construction paper to form the tree.
Next, sketch a tree shape on a clear file, then stick on small pieces of transparent origami paper.
After trimming around the edges, glue it onto the construction paper tree, attach it to the base, and you’re done! Changing the color of the construction paper tree or the transparent origami paper can create a different vibe, and it looks beautiful when displayed.

It’s exciting to think you can make Christmas decorations using everyday paper plates, isn’t it? With this craft, you can use paper plates to create a Christmas tree and bell ornaments.
The method is simple: start by painting the paper plates with paint.
Use a hole punch to thread the hanging string; for the bells, slightly larger jingle bells are recommended because they produce a clearer sound.
For the tree, cut a paper plate into four equal sections and assemble them into a tree shape.
Adding round stickers will make the tree sparkle and enhance the festive feel.
These would also work great as Christmas ornaments.
Snowflake Tree
When it comes to December’s main event—Christmas—the perfect wall decoration is a snowflake tree.
Paste on snowflakes with various patterns to create a festive Christmas tree.
Use blue or light blue paper to make the base of the tree, then decorate it with snowflake ornaments.
Adding a ribbon or a large snowflake to the top will make it even more glamorous.
There are snowflake designs ranging from simple to intricate, so discussing and creating them with the children will make the activity even more exciting!
[Origami] Christmas Tree

Origami is a popular activity in early childhood education, isn’t it? For December, Christmas trees with festive motifs are highly recommended.
Both adults and children can get excited to see how unique each tree turns out! This design lets you try bag folds and some finer folding techniques.
Teachers, be sure to fold along with the kids.
Finish by adding lots of cute decorations to create a tree full of originality! If you’re making a wall display, create many in different colors to make it lively.
[Origami] Christmas Bell

Bells are a classic Christmas motif, and you often see them as ornaments on Christmas trees.
So let’s include Christmas bells in your wall decorations, too! The method introduced here uses standard 15 cm square origami paper, and as a guideline, children aged four and up should be able to try it.
Decorating a large Christmas tree wall display with bells folded by the children will make it look bright and festive.
If teachers are making them, we also recommend arranging them together with other classic Christmas motifs like holly and ribbons.
Wreath made with glitter garland

Here’s how to make a Christmas wreath out of chenille stems (pipe cleaners), perfect for holiday decorations! You can get all the materials at a 100-yen shop.
You’ll need four 20 cm pipe cleaners, decorative pipe cleaners or ornaments, and a straw or thin pen about 0.5 cm in diameter.
To make it, first wrap a pipe cleaner around the straw or pen.
Leave small gaps between the coils, then slide it off.
Make three of these.
Thread all three onto the remaining pipe cleaner, then make a loop at the top and enjoy adding a bow with a pipe cleaner and other decorations.
