[2026] Drum and Bass Masterpieces: From Classics to the Latest Hits
If you’re not very interested in dance music, you might have no idea what “drum and bass” means.
Drum and bass, one of the so-called electronic music genres said to have evolved from jungle, emerged around the mid-1990s, and by the late ’90s there were hit songs that employed drum and bass techniques.
In the early 2020s, Gen Z artists like PinkPantheress went viral with distinctive sounds that incorporated drum and bass, and the genre continues to evolve in its own way today.
Here we introduce some iconic drum and bass tracks, from timeless classics to recent standouts.

Racing GreenHigh Contrast

Anyway, especially if you’re a film lover, I’d recommend checking out the music video first! The parody and homage to the classic The Shining syncs uncannily well with the track and makes it really entertaining.
The MV for Racing Green, which is fascinating in its own right, accompanies a song released in 2004 by High Contrast, a drum’n’bass DJ and producer from Wales, UK.
A globally active hitmaker who has remixed numerous major artists, he included it on his second album, High Society, released the same year, and it even charted in the UK as a single—a true killer tune.
The sharp vocal chops, aggressive sense of speed, and the overall glittering, euphoric synths make it a joy to listen to, and it’s a track that’ll give you a boost.
If you’re seeking the primal pleasures of dance music within drum’n’bass, this is a must-listen.

While studying at Nihon University College of Art, he was influenced by the burgeoning drum and bass scene and began producing his own tracks.
Discovered by LTJ Bukem, one of the originators of drum and bass, Makoto quickly rose to prominence.
From his discography, let’s highlight the classic “Human Elements,” which is also included on his landmark 2003 debut album released on the prestigious Good Looking Records.
Featuring British singer Cleveland Watkiss, it’s a melodious track with a slightly relaxed BPM for drum and bass—an undeniably smooth listen that will appeal even to fans of vocal-centric music.
There’s also a remix included on the 12-inch single, so be sure to check that out as well.
