Here’s a fun-to-make, fun-to-play marble run you can build with straws.
Gather tapioca (boba) straws, beads, masking tape, and scissors, and let’s get started.
Cut the tip of a tapioca straw at an angle, then tape it to a wall with masking tape, adjusting the angle as you go.
Add guards at the ends of the straws so the rolling beads don’t fall out.
The key is to tweak the angles so the beads roll smoothly.
Once it’s finished, try rolling some beads and play! It could also be fun to turn this into a little science project—prepare beads of different sizes and time how many seconds each one takes to roll through.
Make a bow and arrow with straws!

A piece you worked hard to make yourself becomes twice as fun if you can play with it afterward, right? So this time, we’re introducing a bow and arrow you can make with straws.
You can use either thick boba straws or regular straws.
Besides the straws, you’ll just need common household items like a toilet paper roll and rubber bands, so it’s easy to prepare.
The projectile that the bow shoots is made from the toilet paper roll and rubber bands.
Make the bow using a straw and a spherical Styrofoam ball.
Once it’s finished, just aim and shoot at targets made from paper plates or balloons.
Kids will enjoy crafting it with the excitement of being able to play with it after it’s done.

helicopter

Here is a toy that uses the mechanics of a straw tube: you blow into it to make a helicopter fly upward.
It’s easy to try, and it can be a gateway to learning the physics behind how blowing air makes things move.
Watching it zip off like a bamboo-copter is pretty fun, isn’t it?
Let’s make a flute

As a one-day science project, here’s a fun idea for making a simple flute.
Since this involves using fire, be sure to work with an adult.
Prepare three thick straws and flatten one end of each.
Use a lighter to gently heat the flattened end, then pinch the melted section with a clip to seal it.
After making all three the same way, blow into them—you’ll hear a flute-like sound.
The pitch changes with the length of the straws, so adjust them to create the scale you like.
Twirl Whistle

Let’s make a classic festival toy you’ve probably seen for ages—the party blower that unrolls when you blow and curls back up! All you need are a straw, paper, cellophane tape, and masking tape.
First, fold a strip of paper into thirds lengthwise and tape the overlapping edge with cellophane tape.
Insert a straw that’s been cut in half into one end of the paper and secure it firmly with cellophane tape.
Decorate by adding masking tape over the cellophane tape, then roll the paper up—and you’re done.
An hourglass made of straws
https://www.tiktok.com/@silk_haru3mama/video/7387370933188578568Let’s make a toy where short straws fall like an hourglass.
First, cut a wire to 40 cm and wrap it around a pencil to make a spring.
Prepare two small paper cups and make a hole in the center of each bottom; thread one cup onto one end of the spring and secure it.
Stretch the spring and thread short, cut pieces of straw onto it.
Then thread and secure the other paper cup on the opposite end.
To prevent the spring from expanding and contracting, bridge two chopsticks between the two cups and glue them in place, and you’re done! Decorate the paper cups and chopsticks with masking tape or stickers to make it cute.
Drop-in game with a straw

“Straw drop” is a type of therapeutic play that supports children’s development.
Through this activity, kids can build fine motor skills and concentration.
By grasping straws and dropping them into holes, they also enhance hand–eye development and observation skills.
Recognizing colors and shapes and developing an interest in numbers stimulate their senses and cognitive abilities, making this a recommended support tool.
It also gives children a sense of achievement.
Since they can learn while having fun, try making your own version and enjoy it together with the kids!
