[Easy to Play Even If You're Not Good with Both Hands!] Simple piano pieces for absolute beginners. Recommended piano songs.
For those just starting the piano, playing with both hands is probably the first big hurdle, isn’t it?
It’s especially confusing when your hands have to move differently.
In more difficult pieces, it’s normal for the left hand to play octaves, and fast passages appear frequently.
Of course, few people tackle such pieces right from the start, but many still choose the wrong pieces to begin with.
This time, we’ve selected some of the simplest works from the piano repertoire, especially for beginners.

Merry Christmas, Mr. LawrenceSakamoto Ryuichi

Merry Christmas, Mr.
Lawrence, one of Ryuichi Sakamoto’s signature pieces, captivates with its simple, poignant melody.
Composed as the film’s main theme, this romantic piece evokes winter snowscapes and a calm, reflective atmosphere.
Because it relies heavily on repeated motifs, it’s easy to remember and quite approachable for beginner pianists to perform with composure.
While the composition itself is simple, some arrangements add many notes or complex chords that can make it harder to play.
To start, choose an arrangement built from the melody line and minimal accompaniment, and enjoy performing it while fully appreciating the beauty of the piece.
Like the flow of a riverMisora Hibari

This song is the final work of a leading female singer in Japan’s pop music scene.
Its lyrics, which liken life to the flow of a river, are striking and celebrate the importance of living gently.
With a melody and words that resonate deeply, it has continued to be loved by many.
Released in January 1989, it sold over 1.5 million copies.
It’s the perfect song for moments when you’re struggling or standing still in life.
If you listen quietly, it’s sure to soothe your heart.
It’s a masterpiece filled with the singer’s philosophy of life, so please give it a try and master playing it!
Amazing Gracesanbika

Amazing Grace is one of the most beloved songs in America and is even called the “second national anthem.” Originally a hymn, its soul-cleansing, beautiful melody has captured many hearts and is now widely used as background music in television and film.
With few melodic leaps and a gentle, flowing tempo, it’s an easy piece for beginner pianists to play.
Jazz-style arrangements are also very cool, so once you’re comfortable with the basic version, be sure to give them a try!
Beauty and the BeastAlan Menken

Alan Menken, who composed the theme song for Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, also wrote the classic Disney song A Whole New World.
A key feature of this piece is its beautiful melody that evokes the feeling of unison.
The video’s difficulty may be a bit challenging for absolute beginners, but there are simpler sheet music versions available.
If you’ve just started, try putting care into choosing the right score first.
Even the more difficult versions aren’t quite at an intermediate level, so while you’re a beginner, it’s a good idea to switch sheet music and practice repeatedly.

Nocturne in E-flat major, Op. 9 No. 2Frederic Chopin

The next piece I’ll introduce is slightly more challenging.
Frédéric Chopin’s famous Nocturne in E-flat major, Op.
9 No.
2 is generally considered an advanced, difficult work, but there are editions of the score that even beginners can play.
I’ll be explaining it on the assumption that you’re using one of those editions, so take note! The key to practicing this piece is to work on each hand separately.
Practice the right hand and left hand on their own, then put them together.
By repeating this process, you can achieve a cohesive performance.
It’s a somewhat difficult piece, but I encourage you to give it a try.
Waltz of the PuppiesFrederic Chopin

Frederic Chopin’s famous piece “Minute Waltz,” with its strikingly fast passages.
Because it’s frequently used in the media and elsewhere, many people will find it familiar.
As for its difficulty, it’s roughly at an intermediate level.
The increased difficulty comes primarily from the right-hand passages; the left-hand accompaniment isn’t particularly hard.
If you’re a beginner confident with fast passages, try playing this piece while paying close attention to the accompaniment as well.
Minuet for TrumpetWilliam Duncombe

William Duncombe’s famous piece, “Trumpet Minuet.” It’s a piece that’s often performed at piano recitals featuring children.
In terms of difficulty, it’s suited for absolute beginners.
The accompaniment is very simple, and most people can get it into shape within a week.
While being able to play this piece doesn’t mean you’ll immediately be able to play others, it does serve as good exercise for the left hand, so absolute beginners might want to start with this piece for the time being.
