[Beginners Welcome!] Easy Craft Ideas (11–20)
mini wallet

A mini wallet that’s perfect for quick shopping trips in the neighborhood.
It’s also handy when you want to keep your belongings as light as possible! Why not try making one by hand? Even if you’re thinking, “Isn’t that too hard for sewing beginners?” don’t worry—this is an easy method that only involves folding and straight stitching! Basically, you just sew straight lines with a sewing machine, so it’s easy for beginners to try.
Since the fabric gets thicker when folded, we recommend using a sewing machine rather than hand sewing.
If you change the patterns of the outer and lining fabrics, you’ll end up with a piece that has a completely different vibe!
Box tissue cover

A box tissue cover is a simple way to elevate a plain tissue box.
Here’s a beginner-friendly sewing method you can make with just one piece of fabric.
You only need to sew four straight seams on a sewing machine.
As long as you have fabric you like that fits your tissue box size, anyone can give it a try! Of course, if you’re not comfortable with a sewing machine, hand sewing works too.
If you want to hang it, you can make a hook loop from a separate piece of fabric.
It’s also lovely to customize with fabrics in various patterns.
felt ball

With round felt balls, you can easily make all kinds of things even without a sewing machine! While making the felt balls themselves is fairly simple, ready-made ones are sold at 100-yen shops and the like, which makes things easier.
Just glue a few felt balls together and you can create coasters or pot stands! You can also attach findings or strings to make accessories like earrings, necklaces, and hair ties.
It’s a great project for beginners in crafts, and it’s easy for kids to try, too!
fabric panel

If you’re looking to do something about a plain, lifeless wall, I recommend a fabric panel.
The appeal is that anyone can make one easily without any tools.
Just stick two cork boards together with double-sided tape and secure your favorite fabric on top! The trick is to fold and crease the fabric neatly at the four corners.
Since you’ll use strong double-sided tape to secure the board and fabric, the work is very easy.
If you plan to hang it on the wall, attach a part called a screw eye (for stringing a cord) to the back.
It’s also fun to choose fabric that matches the atmosphere of your room!
No-sew smartphone shoulder strap

Let’s make a phone shoulder bag without a sewing machine or thread! Cut the fabric to fit your phone’s size and simply glue the open edges together with fabric adhesive.
If you’re using leather, fasten it with hardware like clasps or rivets.
If you want to operate your phone while it’s inside, it’s recommended to create a window in the pouch and attach a clear panel.
Finally, add a strap in your preferred length so you can wear it over your shoulder, and you’re done! Using fabric gives a soft look, while using leather creates a cool, stylish impression.
Quirky Animals Made from Towels

Towels are essential items in daily life for things like wiping your face, and their softness is a big part of their appeal.
Let’s use that softness to make cute animal mascots.
Cut the towel into the shape of the animal you want to create, sew two pieces together, then stuff them with cotton to form the animal’s shape.
After that, attach parts like the face made from felt so it looks like the animal, and you’re done.
It’s also fun to add originality by choosing different towel colors, varying how you stuff the cotton, and designing unique shapes for the parts.
sachet

“Sachet” is French for a scented bag.
It’s an easy, casual way to express gratitude, and its stylish look makes it a great gift for any age.
If you have fabric scraps at home, why not try making a sachet? You can design it to suit individual tastes, so if you use fabrics in your friend’s favorite colors or patterns, it’s sure to be a hit.
You can sew it with a machine or by hand, making it approachable even for beginners.
Tuck your recipient’s favorite herbs or a few drops of essential oil inside the sachet and give it as a thoughtful present.
Chick-chan Mascot

Let’s make a chick mascot with adorable, round eyes! Using yellow felt, create a template with a compass and cut out four leaf-shaped pieces.
On one piece, draw the eyes and beak, then stitch them with embroidery thread.
Once the eyes and beak are sewn, align it with the other felt pieces and join them using an overcast stitch.
When you’ve sewn about halfway around the last piece, stuff it with filling.
After adding the stuffing, sew it closed to the end, and it’s complete.
A floppy, cute sitting teddy bear

A seated teddy bear plushie made with faux fur has a charming combination of softness and a relaxed, floppy look.
You sew together fabric with fur and stuff it with cotton, and the way you stuff it affects how relaxed it looks in the end.
Make the parts for the face, body, arms, and legs, connect them while keeping natural transitions in mind, and attach the small parts to finish.
Pay close attention to details like the size of each part and the colors you use, and craft it with care.
tassel

How about making a tassel keychain with yarn? Tassels are often seen in stores and used in various products, but they’re actually surprisingly easy to make! First, wrap yarn around a piece of cardboard or something similar, and once it reaches the thickness you want for your tassel, cut the yarn and remove it.
Tie the bundle with another piece of yarn, leaving it a bit long, then tie it again with a separate piece of yarn.
Next, cut through the looped bottom with scissors and trim the ends to even them out, and you’re done.
Tie the longer yarn into a loop to make a hanger.
Threading beads on it will make it even cuter.
