Cute Christmas wreath

A pop and cute Christmas wreath made with origami.
Origami uses your fingertips extensively, so it’s a great recreational activity for seniors to try! Plus, making this Christmas wreath will help you enjoy the seasonal atmosphere.
The base of the wreath is made by folding several parts and assembling them together.
Adding origami Santa Clauses and reindeer will boost the Christmas mood even more! You can also create a unique finish by arranging different color combinations for the wreath base parts.
Snowflakes

How about making hanging snowflake decorations to create a wintry atmosphere in your facility? Snowflakes made from origami may look intricate and delicate, but they’re surprisingly easy to make.
Fold a sheet of origami paper into a triangle and cut slits into it.
Make about four snowflake pieces and glue them together.
Spread out the attached pieces and you’re done.
Older adults can enjoy working at their own pace, too.
Decorating with the finished snowflakes will bring a warm, wintry feel to the space.
If everyone works together, conversations will flow and you’ll have a fun time.
Let’s create lovely pieces and welcome a memorable Christmas!
Snowflake garland

This is a snowflake garland made with origami or design paper, perfect for winter.
Paper cutting is also effective for fingertip training and dementia prevention in older adults, making it ideal for craft activities at day service centers.
First, fold your favorite origami paper into a triangle three times, draw a snowflake pattern, and cut it out with scissors.
Carefully open it, place it face up, align the second piece at the center, glue it, and make four mountain folds to create a three-dimensional shape.
Then make one more of the same piece and attach them together to create a very festive snowflake.
Try using papers with different patterns and enjoy making winter crafts!

Poinsettia wall decoration

Christmas at nursing homes and day service centers is one of the seasonal events, isn’t it? You probably want the wall decorations to be bright and festive to match the season.
This time, we’ll introduce a poinsettia wall decoration that’s perfect for December crafts.
Fold origami paper diagonally, draw the shape of a leaf with a pen, and cut it out with scissors.
Make two sizes—one larger and one smaller—and layer them.
Create the green leaves the same way, but the key is to add several creases to make vein patterns! Flowers make great decorations that help people feel the change of seasons, so they’re highly recommended!
Accordion-folded Christmas tree
At nursing care facilities and day service centers, Christmas events often involve making Christmas trees.
This time, we’d like to introduce a freestanding Christmas tree.
Because it stands on its own, you can enjoy decorating it, and you can display it in places other than on walls, making the room even more festive.
Fold construction paper into an accordion, roll it up, staple one end to secure it, and spread it into a cone shape.
Place a roll of packing tape or a paper cup inside the cone as a base and secure it to complete the tree.
If you also make ring garlands and star ornaments, you can freely enjoy decorating the tree.
It’s a craft that uses lots of finger movements!
Christmas bell made from a paper cup
At December events, we often make crafts themed around Christmas.
How about making a Christmas bell to go with your Christmas trees and star ornaments? It’s fun to watch a paper cup gradually transform! Once you have a paper cup, cut away half of the side vertically while keeping the circular bottom intact.
Fold the bottom and cut out the inside so it forms a handle.
Use the unused rim to add patterns to the bell.
Cut gold origami paper to match the size of the bell, then glue it on to add color.
Roll up a piece of origami to make the clapper that hangs inside the bell.
Secure the bell and clapper with cellophane tape, and the bell is complete.
Attach holly made by cutting green and red origami to the handle for an even more Christmassy look!
Santa Claus doll

Once December arrives, the anticipation starts to build with all the upcoming events—so exciting, right? Christmas, the biggest event of the year’s end, is something everyone can enjoy regardless of age.
How about making a fun, decorative Santa Claus doll to get ready for Christmas? You can easily make one using a toilet paper roll and items from the dollar store! Just cut the roll and attach felt.
Use craft parts from the dollar store for the eyes and nose.
Add a red Santa hat and a beard, and you’ve got yourself a splendid Santa Claus! If you don’t have felt, construction paper or origami paper works just fine, too.
