poinsettia

Would you like to enjoy the warm Christmas atmosphere with poinsettia origami decorations? The vivid red and green colors will brighten up your room.
By cutting origami paper into circles and folding them, you can create cute heart-shaped petals.
Working on this together with seniors also helps with finger exercises.
Once finished, you can hang the pieces on the wall or use them as hanging ornaments—there are many ways to enjoy them depending on your ideas.
Spending Christmas in a room decorated with handmade creations will surely make wonderful memories.
Let’s make poinsettias together and welcome a joyful Christmas!
Simple flower ornament

This is a flower ornament that looks glamorous but is very easy to make! Fold an origami sheet so that each side is divided into eighths, then cut along the creases to make eight strips.
Stack the eight strips, staple them in the center, and place them with the white side facing up.
Apply glue to both ends and stick them down toward the center.
For the second strip, apply glue in the same way and slide it under the center of the first strip before sticking it down.
Make a total of 16 loops, then shape them into a flower at the end, and your floral decoration is complete.
It’s an idea you can use not only for Christmas, so give it a try!
Christmas garland

A garland that’s easy to make with origami is perfect for a craft activity leading up to Christmas! Fold a sheet of origami paper into a triangle and open it once.
Then, just like folding a paper airplane, fold the two adjacent edges toward the center line.
Fold the remaining triangular section downward, hook it over a string, and glue it in place—that’s one piece done! Arrange pieces in your favorite pattern—place various colors for a vibrant look or alternate two colors—and you’ll have a hanging decoration that brightens up any room! Be sure to enjoy the process of preparing for Christmas together with older adults as well.
Christmas tree mobile

This is a cute hanging tree ornament that looks adorable from every angle! Stack two sheets of origami paper in your favorite colors and fold them together, then draw a tree outline and cut it out.
Once you have four trees of the same shape, crease each one so that the center line forms a valley fold when viewed from the front, and glue them together while folded vertically.
Before attaching the last piece, tape a string in place for hanging, then glue the remaining origami on top to hide the tape, and your tree ornament is complete.
It looks charming as it spins in the breeze, so using reflective origami paper is also recommended!
Hanging decoration of stars and a moon made from origami and construction paper

When we think of Christmas, we often imagine a romantic night.
These three-dimensional decorations, featuring motifs of the moon and stars, are perfect symbols of such an evening.
For the star motif, fold each point, sandwich a string between the pieces, and glue them together one by one.
The folding is very intricate, using tweezers, so if it’s difficult, make sure those around you offer solid support.
For the moon motif, cut construction paper into thin strips, shape them into a crescent, and attach paper cut to match that shape to finish.
Punch a hole in the moon and thread the star motif through it; this arrangement lets the stars appear in the gaps of the moon, creating a romantic atmosphere.
pine cone

This project recreates the stepped layers of a pine cone by stacking pieces of construction paper.
Fold an accordion crease into a sheet of paper, secure the center, glue both ends, and form a bumpy circle.
Insert small pieces of paper between layers, stack and glue circular pieces—some with trimmed edges or in varying sizes—and attach a string at the end to complete the pine cone.
Using construction paper makes it sturdy, while origami paper gives it a softer look.
Rather than displaying them individually, it’s recommended to incorporate them into Christmas tree decorations or line several up for display.
simple star

This is an easy-to-make hanging star decoration inspired by the star shining atop a Christmas tree.
Fold a piece of origami paper into a triangle twice, fold it further, then cut it diagonally to create a star shape.
Crease along the existing lines so they become mountain folds on the front, and shape it to finish a puffy star.
Make a small slit in part of the mountain-folded area, thread a string through it, and hang it in your room.
The star’s shape changes depending on the cutting angle, so try making a variety of stars and enjoy decorating for Christmas!
