I’ve worked in a variety of roles—regardless of pro or amateur settings—including live event PA, cameraman for video and photography, restaurant staff, and logistics center staff. I now spend my days as a part-time writer. I’ve contributed to music and manga websites with feature/review articles, and wrote the liner notes included as a bonus for 1st PLACE Inc.’s “IA SUPER BEST.” As for my music background, I started playing guitar in junior high and focused on band activities during my school years. For over 15 years since then, up to the present, I’ve continued releasing original tracks as a Vocaloid producer. My areas of expertise are Japanese rock, Vocaloid, and manga.

There are truly countless songs in the VOCALOID scene, but in this article, I’ve put together a selection of especially stylish tracks.

Of course, “stylish” means different things to different people, so I’ve tried to choose from a wide range of genres without drawing sharp boundaries.

Released in February 2025, it won the runner-up prize in the Hatsune Miku “Magical Mirai 2025” song contest.

The music video premiered in July of the same year and became a major talking point.

Many listeners may find themselves strangely empathizing with the protagonist, who longs to break free from a boring reality and promises to meet in the fantastical setting of an aquarium.

I’m drawn to the slightly off-pitch sound image and the rolled-tongue vocal work.

It’s a piece by the Vocaloid producer Barabara-san, released in December 2022.

Because of the distinctive tuning, it can sound like the lyrics are entirely in English, but in reality it’s roughly half Japanese and half English.

If you make music with Vocaloid, you’ll especially appreciate how impressive the arrangement techniques are.

The flow, the decadent lyrics, and the trap-style sound fit together perfectly.
