A collection of stylish Vocaloid songs: The moving world of VOCALOID

There are truly countless songs in the VOCALOID scene, but in this article, I’ve put together a selection of especially stylish tracks.

Of course, “stylish” means different things to different people, so I’ve tried to choose from a wide range of genres without drawing sharp boundaries.

So there should definitely be something in the style you like.

Check them all out to the end and find the number that moves your heart.

Petals, and the sounds associated with themshack

Petals, and the sounds that come with them / Hatsune Miku
Petals, and the rib-cage shack tied to the sounds surrounding them

A razor-sharp slice of synth-pop infused with a keen perspective on the digital society.

Released by Abaraya in February 2025, it took first place in the VOCACOLLE Winter 2025 TOP 100 ranking.

Centered on themes of feelings toward the very existence of synthetic voice libraries and the loss of identity, its philosophical message really hits home.

I suspect many people feel this way about Vocaloid culture—and by extension, internet culture.

Why not listen to this track and sink into a bit of contemplation?

Freedom of ArtYusaku Oginagi

Vocaloid producer Yusaku Oginagi’s “Freedom of Art” is a work that distills self-criticism toward one’s own inability to take action and a desire to let inner emotions surface.

The contrast between the somewhat wistful lyrics and the cool electronic sound is striking.

Even the soundscape alone seems to overflow with a sense of helplessness toward an unchangeable reality.

It may resonate especially strongly with those engaged in creative activities.

TagHaruno

Tag feat. Luo Tianyi
Tag Haruno

This is a track Haruno released as a Vocaloid producer for the first time in about seven years.

Released in June 2025, the song deepens a downbeat yet beautiful worldview with a touch of fantasy.

Interweaving Luo Tianyi’s resonant vocals with oriental sounds, it creates a uniquely weightless atmosphere.

The lyrics, themed around a game of tag in the dark, depict a heart being overtaken by an irresistible pull, as if you’re reading a mysterious story.

How about getting lost in this bewitching world that draws you in?

Just kidding!/Kasane Teto and Raincoat
Just kidding! NEKOZUME

The music unit NEKOZUME, known for their “Dark DE Kawaii” aesthetic, has created a track featuring Kasane Teto and Amagai as vocalists! On the surface it’s light and adorable, yet it secretly pricks at the heart with a sly, cynical lyrical worldview—that contrast is irresistible.

The poppy EDM sound and irresistibly catchy melody are also top-notch.

When you want to blow away your frustrations in one satisfying sweep, give it a listen!

yakshakojika

Yasha / kojika feat. Hatsune Miku
Yaksha Kojika

A track by Vocaloid producer kojika, released in July 2025, featuring a strikingly dry guitar sound.

This work is a heart-wrenching dark fantasy depicting the encounter between a lonely ogre and the protagonist.

Told from the perspectives of both the protagonist and the ogre, the story masterfully explores themes such as loss of self and yearning for others.

How about delving into its profound world at night, reading the lyrics carefully on your own?

Atashi à la modeYotsugi Natsuyama

Me à la Mode / Kagamine Rin & Hatsune Miku
Atashi à la Mode Natsuyama Yotsugi

A track produced by Yotsugi Natsuyama for SEGA’s music game project “29th Project SEKAI NEXT,” under the theme “Songs You Want to Hear at a Festival.” Its electro-swing-style rhythmic sound creates an exhilarating, live-concert-like atmosphere.

Kagamine Rin’s energetic vocals and Hatsune Miku’s cute voice are a perfect match for this fantastical world! It’s ideal for when you want to lift your mood and hype things up!

orz…Eee-tsu

An ennui-laden Vocaloid track with a chill sound that carries an undercurrent of unease.

“orz…,” produced by Vocaloid-P Itsu, was released in July 2024.

It features a floating, airy sonic image and Miku’s slightly lisping vocals.

The lyrics depict a protagonist on the brink of despair, pleading for salvation from an angel.

What happened to her? The lyrics and MV invite plenty of interpretation.

If you’re looking for something cute yet sickly sweet and twisted, be sure to check it out!
