A collection of stylish Vocaloid songs: The moving world of VOCALOID

There are truly countless songs in the VOCALOID scene, but in this article, I’ve put together a selection of especially stylish tracks.

Of course, “stylish” means different things to different people, so I’ve tried to choose from a wide range of genres without drawing sharp boundaries.

So there should definitely be something in the style you like.

Check them all out to the end and find the number that moves your heart.

My progress is terrible.GYARI

[Miyamai Moka] Progress Is Totally Hopeless [MV]
My progress is terrible.GYARI

This piece features a sound that lingers with a jazzy aftertaste and a light, upbeat rhythm.

Composed by GYARI and released in December 2024, it humorously portrays a theme many can relate to: being swamped by deadlines and tasks yet drifting into escapism because motivation just won’t come.

As you listen, you can’t help but see yourself in it and end up laughing.

It’s recommended for when you’re tired from work or studying and need a change of pace.

Petals, and the sounds associated with themabaraya

Petals, and the sounds that come with them / Hatsune Miku
Petals, and the sounds associated with themabaraya

A razor-sharp slice of synth-pop infused with a keen perspective on the digital society.

Released by Abaraya in February 2025, it took first place in the VOCACOLLE Winter 2025 TOP 100 ranking.

Centered on themes of feelings toward the very existence of synthetic voice libraries and the loss of identity, its philosophical message really hits home.

I suspect many people feel this way about Vocaloid culture—and by extension, internet culture.

Why not listen to this track and sink into a bit of contemplation?

Suit&Tiemerokuru

Suit & Tie / Merokuru feat. KAITO & ALLEN
Suit&Tiemerokuru

Don’t miss the romantic love song “Suit & Tie” either.

This duet was produced by Vocaloid producer Merokuru using KAITO and ALLEN.

Using the suit and tie in the title as a motif, it portrays the two gradually growing closer.

KAITO and ALLEN trade lines and deliver beautiful harmonies, creating an arrangement that conveys the depth of their bond.

Also pay attention to the ending, which hints at what might unfold next.

Madoromuienu

Madoromu / Hatsune Miku, Kasane Teto
Madoromuienu

This is a high-sense Vocaloid number with a pleasant, floating sensation that makes you feel as if you’re drifting through a dream.

Composed by Ienu, it was released in June 2024.

Set to a delicate sound that weaves together electronica and ballad elements, it sings of the bittersweet feeling of crossing the border between dreams and reality.

The melody is catchy, and the voices of Hatsune Miku and Kasane Teto are incredibly cute.

But you know, the lyrics really tighten your chest.

A farewell to someone precious whom you can only meet in dreams.

You’ll be drawn in by the raw emotional expression.

It’s a song I recommend when you want to listen at a relaxed pace.

Life and Death 1999suzume no me

A nostalgic electropop track where airy electronic tones pair exquisitely with Kasane Teto’s distinctive timbre.

Crafted by Suzumenome and released in August 2024, this number centers on the specific year 1999, weaving in the social anxieties of the time along with hopes for the future.

The atmosphere of the era on the brink of the new millennium is brilliantly captured through the fusion of retro sound and modern Vocaloid.

It’s perfect for when you want to immerse yourself in a feeling of drifting between past and present.

Be sure to listen with earphones for maximum immersion.
