The famous fairy-tale 'house made of sweets' makes its debut in a board game!!
witch of sweets

A candy house that everyone dreamed of at least once as a child! In this board game themed around such a candy house, you take turns carefully pulling out roof cards one by one so they don’t collapse, and returning cards to match the candy illustrations.

In the end, the player with the most cards in hand wins.

The rules are simple and easy to understand, so it can be enjoyed together by children and seniors alike.

How about playing it with everyone while snacking on delicious treats for Valentine’s Day?

Heart fishing

Heart fishing

Fishing is a game that livens up any event! So why not give it a Valentine’s twist and have some fun? This time, you won’t be catching fish… but hearts! Wrap lightweight materials like plastic bottles or milk cartons with construction paper, decorate them, and attach a heart-shaped piece with a clip on top.

Fix a string and a magnet to your fishing rod, then catch the hearts by connecting to the clips.

Compete to see how many hearts you can catch within the time limit.

You can also assign point values to the hearts and battle for the highest score—it’s lots of fun!

Whether or not you enjoyed baseball when you were young, why not try incorporating an easy-to-enjoy “baseball game” into your day-service recreation? It can be played while seated, so even those using wheelchairs can feel comfortable taking part.

For older adults, all they need to do is swing a plastic bat and hit a colored ball! You could set up zones like right, center, and left fields and assign points to make it more exciting.

It’s also a light form of exercise, so give it a try!

🐶 @buchiko_hoiku ◂◂◂◂ Check out my other posts, too 🌼 Thank you so much for all the likes 🩷 This time! A Setsubun craft for toddlers 👹 Isn’t this tiger-pattern wreath so cute? 🫶🏻 I keep making wreath crafts 😂 I guess I really like making wreaths 🤭 lol The wreath doesn’t have to be yellow—make it unique with your favorite colors like pink or blue 🙆🏻‍♀️ Cutting out the oni and the god of fortune uses scissors, so it’s great practice for continuous cutting ✌🏻 At the end, think about the “oni” inside yourself that you want to chase away and write it on a strip of paper. It helps kids understand the meaning of Setsubun and join in without being scared of the oni ✊🏻 And!! This craft is also available as a kit for purchase 🌟 Craft kits saved me when I was actively teaching, so now I want to help teachers who are struggling! I make each one with that in mind ✂️ Links to Mercari and BASE are in my profile! I sell other crafts too, so I’d be happy if you take a look 👀 A follow would make me even happier 🥴💕 lol Please try making it yourself 🌈 I’d love to hear your “I made it!” reports—they really motivate me 🥹❤️‍🔥 Thank you for reading to the end 🐶 I share ideas you can easily copy from introduction to crafting ♬︎ Likes ♥, saves 𖤘, and follows 𖤐 would make me cry with joy 😂 lol Comments are also very welcome 🤍🤍Nursery teacher / Childcare workerKindergarten TeacherWinter Craft#Wall CreationToddler CraftsPlay that expands from picture booksSetsubun craft

Using a paper plate, you can easily create a wreath-like craft.

This piece uses Setsubun, a major event in February, as its theme.

Cut a circular hole from the center of the paper plate to make a donut shape, then paint it yellow.

Tear black construction paper into long, thin strips and paste them onto the plate.

This completes the base with a distinctive yellow-and-black pattern that looks like an oni’s pants.

Next, make items like an oni (ogre), Okame, a masu (wooden box), and beans using construction paper or origami, and stick them onto the plate.

You’ll end up with a craft perfect for Setsubun.

Since it uses a lot of fine finger movements, it also seems helpful for stimulating the brain.

A Slightly Punny Setsubun Quiz

Serious, brain-teasing quizzes are fun, but here’s a lighthearted “slightly punny Setsubun quiz” you can enjoy with your guard down.

By weaving in wordplay related to Setsubun, ogres (oni), and beans, it naturally creates moments that make people chuckle.

Rather than focusing on right or wrong, the main reactions are “Ah, I see” and “That’s funny,” which lowers the barrier to participation and makes people think, “Maybe I’ll give it a try.” Laughter eases tension and encourages more conversation with others.

The content isn’t too difficult, so it’s perfect for opening a recreational activity or for a quick change of pace, and it will brighten up and enliven any Setsubun event.

Valentine’s Day wall decorations

[Craft Idea] Valentine’s Day Wall Decoration – Heart (February) (Senior Recreation, Day Service, Occupational Therapy OT, Childcare, Crafts) (Paper Tape, Easy Heart)
Valentine's Day wall decorations

February 14 is Valentine’s Day.

Many older adults may receive chocolates from family or close acquaintances.

Let’s help amplify this sweet, love-filled occasion with decorations on indoor walls.

Cut red or pink paper tape into lengths of about 10 to 40 centimeters.

Take two strips of the same length and stick their ends together to form a heart shape.

You can also make ribbons in various lengths, creating both large and small sizes.

You can stick them directly onto the wall, or arrange them on poster paper to create a lovely piece.

Use these ideas as inspiration to make Valentine’s Day wall decorations that will excite anyone who sees them.
