fromis_9, formed by contestants from the audition program “Idol School.” Their group name carries a promise to become the best girl group.

They pre-debuted in November 2017 with the digital single “Glass Shoes,” and officially debuted in January 2018 with the mini album “To.

Heart.” The members are: captain Lee Saerom; Song Hayoung, who writes and composes and charms with both a baby face and a powerful side; Jang Gyuri, who also appeared on “PRODUCE48,” known for her charm and outstanding vocals; Park Jiwon, with a husky tone and the strongest vocals in the team; center Noh Jisun; main rapper Lee Seoyeon, a former BLACKPINK trainee; Lee Chaeyoung, the tall dance-and-variety ace; Lee Nagyung, a gamer and the group’s visual; and the youngest, Baek Jiheon, whose eyes disappear adorably when she smiles.

While they carry a vibe reminiscent of Japanese idols, they steadily grew their popularity with high-quality songs and performances, and “WE GO” in 2020 became their biggest hit at the time—one of their signature tracks! Alongside effervescent, cute pop like “DKDK” and “LOVE BOMB,” fromis_9 also exude elegance and freshness.

They may particularly appeal to fans of early-to-mid GFRIEND.

In 2021, they moved to PLEDIS Entertainment under HYBE LABELS, drawing even more attention.

LUVA Pink

LUVA Pink

Apink debuted in 2011 as seven members with the mini album “Seven Springs of Apink.” In 2013, Hong Yookyung left, and the group took on its current lineup.

In their early days, they charmed with a cute concept as the original “fairy idols,” leading the pure and innocent idol image with songs like “My My” and “NoNoNo.” They broke through with “Mr.

Chu” in 2014, and later that year the title track “LUV” from the release “Pink LUV” became a phenomenal hit, achieving an unprecedented 17 music-show wins.

The members are leader Chorong; Bomi, a mood-maker with outstanding expressive power; Eunji, who also shines as a solo artist and actress; center Naeun, highly active as an advertising and commercial model; Namjoo, a bright and lively presence successful in musicals and on YouTube; and Hayoung, the tall, game-loving maknae.

Each member’s individuality is well-balanced, giving the team exceptional harmony.

Thanks to their strong bond, they are among the few groups to overcome the daunting “seven-year curse.” In recent years, their style has evolved to portray a mature worldview that reflects their growth.

Even so, their approachable nature, sense of closeness, and ability to openly express emotions remain part of their appeal.

With extensive experience in Japan and leadership in many aspects of the K-pop scene, Apink is a wonderful group we’ll continue to support going forward.

La Vie en RoseIZ*ONE

Formed from the audition program PRODUCE48 as a Japan–Korea joint group with 12 members, IZ*ONE made a striking debut with the 2018 mini-album COLOR*IZ amid high expectations.

The shock and excitement of La Vie en Rose were unforgettable—it was an incredible movement.

The group featured leader Kwon Eunbi; the charming ace Sakura Miyawaki; Kang Hyewon, beloved for her enigmatic appeal; Choi Yena, a powerful, do-it-all specialist; Lee Chaeyeon, a standout dancer; and Kim Chaewon, known for her strong vocals and angelic presence.

There was also Kim Minju, with her calm aura and endearing playful side; Nako Yabuki, with fairy-like translucence; Hitomi Honda, whose adorable cheeks and growing sophistication were her charm; Jo Yuri, praised for her vocal talent; Ahn Yujin, whose brightness shines and who never seemed like the second-youngest in the group; and Jang Wonyoung, the youngest yet a commanding center with exceptional presence.

Beyond their beautiful visuals, their refined musicality and performance skills—and above all, their overwhelming glamour in everything they did—were captivating.

The dazzling, ornate world they embodied truly matched IZ*ONE’s color.

The growth of the Japanese members was remarkable as well, and the members supported one another, giving us so much emotion and hope.

It’s bittersweet that their activities were set to be time-limited from the start… but perhaps that’s exactly why we can call them a legendary girl group.

I hope each member continues to thrive in their new paths, and if possible, I’d love to see all 12 of them share a stage again.

DDU-DU DDU-DUBLACKPINK

BLACKPINK – ‘뚜두뚜두 (DDU-DU DDU-DU)’ M/V
DDU-DU DDU-DUBLACKPINK

BLACKPINK is a charismatic group that has made a huge impact as trailblazers of the “girl crush” concept.

They debuted in 2016 under YG Entertainment, the company that produced BIGBANG, and drew attention as the first girl group from the label in seven years since 2NE1.

With Jennie, whose vocals and rap are outstanding; Lisa, a Thai member known for her cool dance performances; Jisoo, the eldest and the mood-maker with a clear, beautiful vocal tone; and Rosé, who grew up in Australia and captivates with her vocal prowess—the four members each have striking charisma that wins people over.

They were popular from debut, but in recent years their global fame has soared, with jaw-dropping YouTube view counts.

They’ve collaborated with stars like Lady Gaga and Selena Gomez and are supported by many celebrities and public figures.

As of 2021, they surpassed Justin Bieber to become the most-subscribed artist on YouTube, after previously holding the top spot among female artists.

BLACKPINK’s music seizes you with memorable hooks, as in their debut track “BOOMBAYAH” and their signature “DDU-DU DDU-DU.” While their core sound centers on strong styles like hip-hop and EDM, their expressive range and overwhelming performance power also shine in breezy tracks like “AS IF IT’S YOUR LAST” and even country-pop songs like “STAY.”

Nonstop(살짝 설렜어)OH MY GIRL

Affectionately known as “Omagoru” and hailed as the “fairy of concepts,” OH MY GIRL delivers high-sense, concept-driven music.

They debuted in 2015 with the title track “CUPID” from their 1st mini album OH MY GIRL.

The seven members are leader Hyojung, rapper Mimi who suits all kinds of hair colors, dance-acclaimed YooA, powerhouse vocalist Seunghee, easygoing Jiho, the cute former child actress Binnie, and the youngest maknae Arin.

With their energetic charm and unparalleled clarity, they steadily grew in popularity, taking their first win on a TV music show in 2018 with the masterpiece “Secret Garden.” Even from their early days with songs like “CLOSER,” their music was highly praised; I think their uniquely memorable phrases and refreshing sound are especially captivating! Even before their official Japan debut around 2018–2019, they frequently held release events, and their approachability was outstanding—communicating fluently in Japanese, led by Mimi and Jiho.

In recent years, alongside their cuteness, they exude an elegant sensuality.

In 2020, “Nonstop” achieved eight music-show wins and charted for 480 days, becoming a massive hit that propelled them into truly global idol status.

Yet, we remain charmed by OM G’s unchanged, playful personalities and their ever-evolving, high musicality.

WANNABEITZY

WANNABEITZY

ITZY, who debuted from JYP Entertainment in 2019, are known as TWICE’s younger sister group.

The five members are: Yeji, the stoic leader; Lia, who used to have fewer revealing outfits and was once called JYP’s trump card; Ryujin, the cool beauty who often takes center; Chaeryeong, the younger sister of former IZ*ONE’s Chaeyeon and a performer who captivates with her fluid dance; and Yuna, the youngest and the visual.

Based on a girl-crush style, their powerful performances and worldview—epitomized by the anthem “WANNABE,” which champions being true to oneself and going one’s own way—are incredibly cool.

While TWICE leans more pop, ITZY has a hip-hop, beat-driven feel, yet remains catchy and easy to listen to.

Even before debut, they gained rich experience through auditions and MV appearances, and their unpretentious style, ever-evolving charisma, and strong musicality make them a reassuring presence that gives courage to many people!

HIPMAMAMOO

HIPMAMAMOO

Since their 2014 debut with “Mr.

Ambiguous,” MAMAMOO has captivated many listeners with their high-level talent and their unmistakable, impactful MAMAMOO style.

Together with producer Kim Do-Hoon, they’ve consistently delivered high-quality songs—their overwhelming performances, tight harmonies, and charisma are just so cool! The group’s four members are: Solar, the eldest with standout vocal prowess; Moonbyul, the easygoing, irresistibly handsome rapper; Wheein, the charming mood-maker; and Hwasa, the youngest who combines boldness with delicacy.

As of 2021, all of them are also active as solo artists.

Another hallmark is their strong support from female fans, thanks to their friendly yet refreshingly straightforward vibe.

From hype tracks like “Decalcomanie” and “Yes I am,” to the oriental-flavored “Egotistic” and ballads like “I Miss You,” they can take on any genre and make it distinctly MAMAMOO.

In 2019, “HIP,” the title track of their second full album reality in BLACK, became a massive long-running hit that spanned into the following year! MAMAMOO’s signature style of positive messaging gives you a powerful boost, as if strengthening you from the inside.

PsychoRed Velvet

Red Velvet debuted in 2014 as SM Entertainment’s next-generation girl group, following the likes of Girls’ Generation and f(x).

The five members are leader Irene; Seulgi, an Asian beauty who also speaks excellent Japanese; Wendy, whose vocals are beautiful and crystal clear; Joy, who has a cute vibe and is active as an actress; and Yeri, the youngest, known for her dancing.

Beyond their standout visuals, true to their group name—imbued with the idea of “multifaceted charm that doesn’t conform to a single color”—they balance a colorful, shape-shifting identity with musical styles that can be 180 degrees apart.

While their early work highlighted a hip-hop edge, in recent years they’ve become known for refreshing, easy-to-listen-to melodies.

You’re drawn in by the gap between bright, cute tracks like Dumb Dumb and Rookie, whose repeating phrases are irresistibly catchy, and the bubbly pop fun of Red Flavor, contrasted with the dark, intoxicating world of their 2019 smash hit Psycho.

All of their songs are exceptionally catchy, linger in your ears in a strangely compelling way, and have an addictive quality that makes you want to hit repeat.

GeeGirls’ Generation (Shōjo Jidai)

GeeGirls' Generation (Shōjo Jidai)

Girls’ Generation, the girl group that debuted in Korea in August 2007 and has led the K-pop scene with overwhelming presence.

For many, SNSD was surely the gateway to becoming a K-pop fan! Before K-pop hit the mainstream in Japan, their 2010 arrival drew 22,000 people to Ariake Coliseum, and their beautiful legs also became a hot topic.

In 2009, their hook-filled dance number “Gee” became a massive hit—and even enjoyed a revival in 2021—catapulting them into pan-Asian stardom.

Despite being superstars, their approachable, charming side, along with bold, innovative music like “The Boys” and “I GOT A BOY,” solidified their unwavering popularity.

The innocent freshness of early tracks like their debut “Into the New World” is precious, while songs like “PAPARAZZI” exude glamorous flair, and their ballads move listeners with pure vocal emotion.

Their Japanese songs, rich in story and easy to relate to, further showcase their all-around appeal.

Since 2015, the group has operated as eight members following Jessica’s departure, and in 2017, after the contracts of Tiffany, Sooyoung, and Seohyun expired, they formed the sub-unit Girls’ Generation-Oh!GG.

Still, we hope to see all members together again someday.

They are a legendary girl group whose legacy will continue to be told for years to come.
