Kanagawa Prefecture
Student-Organized Screening | Japan Institute of the Moving ImageFri 5/15 – Sun 5/17, Kanagawa Prefecture
The late film director Shohei Imamura, a two-time Palme d’Or winner at the Cannes Film Festival, founded the Japan Institute of the Moving Image as a place dedicated to studying film, in response to the decline of traditional movie studios. Its school festival is also all about cinema, featuring numerous screenings of student-produced films.

At Yokohama National University, two campus festivals are held each year: the Seiryo Festival in spring and the Tokiwai Festival in autumn, with the latter being the more representative event, featuring over 130 participating groups. Tanabata Festival | Keio University (Shonan Fujisawa Campus)Kanagawa Prefecture, Sat. 7/4 – Sun. 7/5
At Keio University’s Shonan Fujisawa Campus, the Tanabata Festival is held every year on the first Saturday of July. With a theme of “Tanabata × Summer Festival × Community Focus,” many attendees wear yukata. It’s said that many local residents also come to enjoy the event. The festival culminates with a fireworks display.
