While cherishing the history and traditions that have been passed down, this year is set as a time to take a new step forward under the theme “Overflowing Vitality.” From the main stage events on the back field and the largest-ever number of food stalls, to festival-style games in the plaza in front of the co-op and indoor programs using lecture rooms, the entire campus will be filled with the energy of students for a whole day. More than half a century has passed since the name “Ichō Festival” was created in 1963 to celebrate the founding of Osaka University. Adorning the campus every year from late April to early May, this university festival—held under this year’s theme, “Shunyō” (Spring Sunlight)—brims with the vigor of OU students as over 100 student-led events and open laboratories from various faculties come together. It’s a rare chance to directly experience the front lines of research. The festival will be held on May 1 and 2 at Osaka University’s Toyonaka and Suita campuses.
