With the motto “Practice of Love and Service,” they cultivate five strengths—human qualities, professional expertise, ability to act, international competence, and workplace readiness—practicing engaging education under the philosophy of developing the human resources needed by regions and the times. The Faculty of Human and Social Studies includes the Department of Human and Social Studies and the Department of Community Welfare, making it a university specialized in society. The school festival is called the Kaede Festival.

The Co-Creation Festival, held every fall at Hamamatsu Gakuin University, features a full lineup of stage events, led by artist performances and comedy shows, along with activities by student clubs. Numerous food stalls also set up shop, making it a campus festival that can be enjoyed not only by students but by local community members as well.
