The rattlesnake is comingTonneruzu

Not only did they score hits on variety shows, but the comedy duo Tunnels were also blessed with hit songs.

They’ve produced many hit numbers over the years, and among them, the one I especially recommend for being easy to sing is “Garagara Hebi ga Yattekuru” (“Here Comes the Rattlesnake”).

It’s essentially a comic song aimed mainly at elementary and middle school students, yet the vocal line surprisingly comes together in a funky, cool way.

The overall range is quite narrow, so men of any voice type should be able to sing it.

Traveler ~The Longest Journeybakufū suranpu

Bakufu Slump has produced many classic songs and remains a band with enduring popularity even today.

Their track “Tabibito yo ~The Longest Journey~” is a comeback hit that revived their fortunes and was loved by many listeners, especially men.

While the vocal delivery has a distinctly masculine style, the song’s range sits comfortably in the mid-to-lower register, making it manageable even for men who struggle with low notes.

It’s also easy to sing even when your throat starts to get tired, so consider adding it to your repertoire.

Wandering Love SongNagabuchi Tsuyoshi

People in their early 40s belong to a generation for whom laid-back, Unicorn-style rock was trendy, while those in their late 40s grew up exposed to more masculine rock as well.

Many of you may even have listened to Tsuyoshi Nagabuchi’s songs.

With that in mind, I recommend “Junrenka.” This piece incorporates some folk elements and is arranged primarily in the lower-mid to mid vocal range throughout.

Although a slightly higher phrase appears toward the end of the chorus, it still sits around the mid-high range, so you should hardly encounter any issues from a vocal production standpoint.

Pockets full of rainbowsYellow Magic Orchestra

Yellow Magic Orchestra is a music group recognized worldwide.

Needless to say, they are the pioneers who laid the foundation for Japanese techno.

They have many classic tracks, but the one I especially recommend is Pocket ni Niji ga Ippai (Pockets Full of Rainbows).

As you might expect from a group with strong instrumental roots, even though this piece has many vocal parts, the vocals themselves are very understated.

There are no complex vocal lines, and the range is extremely narrow, making it an excellent song in terms of singability.

Can’t Say Anything… SummerTHE JAYWALK

This is a song by J-WALK released in 1991.

It’s a track that evokes the summer of the ’90s, with a very delicate melody line that gradually gained support.

Its beautiful melody, which makes you feel the end of summer, brings back memories of nostalgic summers.

STORMLUNA SEA

STORMLUNA SEA

LUNA SEA’s classic song “STORM.” Many people probably have the impression that LUNA SEA’s songs are often high-difficulty pieces built around high tones.

While that’s certainly true of many LUNA SEA tracks, there are also some that are very easy to sing.

One such example is “STORM.” This song is unusual among LUNA SEA’s works in that it’s composed within a very narrow vocal range.

There are no shout sections either, so any man in his 40s should be able to sing it.

chicken riceHamada Masatoshi / Makihara Noriyuki

The classic song “Chicken Rice,” which became a nationwide hit.

With Hitoshi Matsumoto fully taking on lyric writing for the project, and the fact that it was a concept piece, it generated a huge buzz at the time.

In this work, his partner Masatoshi Hamada participates as the main vocalist.

Since Hamada is not a professional singer, the vocal line has been crafted to be very simple and easy to sing.

The pitch does jump up and down a bit, so make sure to firmly memorize the vocal line.
