Free-admission festivals in Kansai [2026]

This time, we’ll introduce free-admission festivals in the Kansai region.

There are many festivals organized by local communities that highlight the unique character of each area, making them fun for the whole family.

Festivals are also great places to discover new musicians.

The Saiin FesSun, Nov 23 – Kyoto Prefecture

Saiin Fes is a free (tip-based) music festival held around Saiin in Kyoto. Since 2017, it has been held in spring, summer, and autumn. Not only live music venues but also cafes and shrines throughout the Saiin area become stages, filling the town with music for two days.

Tenma Music FestivalSun, Oct 26, Osaka Prefecture

At the Tenma Music Festival, there are no restrictions on musical genre—you can enjoy a wide variety of styles including gospel, jazz, country, folk, classical, Hawaiian, and rock. The event is a large, citywide celebration held at more than 30 venues, such as the ward community hall, elementary schools, corners of shopping streets, and even Osaka Station (as a satellite venue).
