Kiki's Delivery Service (1–10)
First workday of the yearHisaishi Joe

This is a song from Kiki’s Delivery Service.
I’m sure many of you have heard it at least once.
It plays during Kiki’s first job, right? The music carries the town’s relaxed atmosphere and is recommended for those who want to enjoy a cheerful vibe.
If I’m wrapped in kindnessArai Yumi

This is the song “Yasashisa ni Tsutsumareta nara,” released when Yumi Matsutoya was still known as Yumi Arai.
It came out in 1974, but it remains a karaoke staple and is still sung in schools—one of the most popular songs among Studio Ghibli themes.
Its memorable lyrics and stylish, free-spirited sound continue to captivate listeners!
Kiki, Busy as a BeeHisaishi Joe

This piece is “Kiki on a Busy Day,” used in the film Kiki’s Delivery Service.
Don’t you feel Kiki’s busyness just by listening? I think the expression “running around in a tizzy” fits perfectly.
Even on a gloomy morning commute, listening to this track might make you feel like a Ghibli protagonist and help you get through the day! It’s a song where the bright tone of the piano is beautifully showcased.
On a sunny day…Hisaishi Joe

This is the piece that plays in the scene where Kiki finally arrives in the big city after many difficulties and begins working at the bakery.
Though it’s only flute and violin, it’s a profoundly evocative, melancholic masterpiece that skillfully blends a waltz-based classical style with Joe Hisaishi’s originality.
The key change in the latter half seems to capture the adolescent emotional swings of rejoicing and despairing over the smallest things.
Even though I like you!Takaran o Arika

This is a song called “Suki na no ni!” that was released as an image song for Kiki’s Delivery Service.
It’s such a cute song, isn’t it? The singer is Arika Takarano, known as the vocalist of ALI PROJECT.
Her whimsical yet slightly dark image suits this track perfectly.
Listen to it once and you’ll be totally hooked—it’s that kind of song!
The revolving seasonsInoue Azumi

Some people might be surprised to learn that the piece we heard in the film actually has lyrics.
This is the song “Meguru Kisetsu,” sung by Azumi Inoue, which sets lyrics to the suite “A Town with an Ocean View” used in the movie Kiki’s Delivery Service.
The lyricist, Yumi Yoshimoto, also wrote the lyrics for Ayaka Hirahara’s signature song “Jupiter.” They’re beautiful lyrics that bring vivid scenes to mind when you close your eyes.
DepartureHisaishi Joe

A song that plays in the scene where Kiki sets off, leaving the town where she was born and raised for the first time.
An air of elegance permeates the entire piece.
The first half has a fresh, exciting feel, but as it progresses toward the latter half, a sudden sense of poignancy stands out.
It beautifully captures a first departure where excitement and anxiety coexist.
