Winter songs by Japanese all-female bands! Recommended popular tracks and hidden gems (31–40)
Pink-White X’masPINK SAPPHIRE

A song by the girls’ band PINK SAPPHIRE, who came from “Ika-su Band Tengoku,” a segment of the variety show Heisei Meibutsu TV that helped spark the 1990s band boom.
It’s the B-side to their second single, “Dakishimetai,” and is also included on their best-of album BEST FOR YOU ~ Single Collection.
Its catchy melody rides on a pop yet gutsy rock sound, and together with the female-perspective lyrics, it vividly conjures up Christmas scenes.
A recommended winter song where cuteness shines through its hard edge.
HELLOSCANDAL

SCANDAL is a four-piece rock band that has led the post-2000s girls’ band scene in J-POP, performing live overseas since their indie days.
The new song HELLO, included on their third best-of album SCANDAL, features an arrangement that begins with a striking guitar arpeggio, giving it a lyrical feel.
Its message—that we can become stronger because of the presence of someone important—paired with imagery that evokes snowy landscapes, is sure to move listeners.
With a translucent, lingering chorus melody, it’s a rock tune that conjures the feeling of winter.
Amaryllissutereoponī

On cold winter days, you feel like listening to ballads that warm the heart.
“Amaryllis,” included on Stereopony’s 2011 release More! More!! More!!!, is a moving track where sweeping strings meet a powerful band sound.
Vocalist AIMI’s sweet yet strong voice matches the bittersweet lyrics and carries a sense of wistfulness.
It’s a song I highly recommend for a walk through winter city streets.
Winter DayHōkago Tī Taimu

It might be a bit of a stretch to include them under the category of Japanese all-female bands, but if you’re talking about the most famous girl band born from an anime, it has to be After-School Tea Time from K-On!, right? They left behind many classic songs that transcended the realm of anime music, and at the time they even sparked a social phenomenon, with lots of high school girls starting instruments like the guitar because of their music.
Among their songs is a perfect winter tune.
Titled “Fuyu no Hi” (“A Winter Day”), it’s based on a poem written by Mio, the bassist who mainly handles lyrics, and dedicated to her best friend and drummer, Ritsu.
In the story, Ritsu mistakes it for a love letter and rejects it, deeming it unusable.
The completed version was finally included on the 2010 release After-School Tea Time II.
Its bouncy rhythm creates a festive, Christmas-like sparkle and fun, while Aki Toyosaki, who voices Yui and sings lead, delivers the vocals with a touch of wistfulness that matches the lyrics beautifully—a true masterpiece.
YUKIWhiteberry

Whiteberry is a girls’ band from Kitami, Hokkaido.
Because their song Natsu Matsuri was a hit, they kind of have a summertime image, but their debut single YUKI, released in 1999, is actually an absolutely wintry tune.
The track was released under the production of Onda, who was the leader of JUDY AND MARY at the time.
Just listening to its catchy melody is enough to lift your spirits! Please enjoy this cute love song that blows away the winter chill!

White outRīgaru Rirī

Here’s Regal Lily’s winter song “White out,” beloved for its nostalgic atmosphere.
It’s included on their first mini-album “the Post,” released in 2016.
The simple lyrics, which conjure a pure white snowy landscape before your eyes, are delivered dramatically by vocalist Honoka Takahashi’s delicate, ephemeral voice, and the straightforward performance that carries it really touches the heart.
It’s a song that accompanies the quiet winter air and feelings of loneliness.
In conclusion
Since we’re limiting ourselves to winter songs by girls’ bands, there aren’t that many straightforward “winter” tracks to choose from.
But when you listen again, it’s fun to feel each band’s unique character.
Beyond the songs we introduced this time, there might be hidden winter gems by your favorite girls’ bands.
Be sure to check them out with the lyrics in hand!
