In To The New Worldshōjo jidai
This is their memorable debut song.
Their fresh voices and appearances make you smile without even realizing it.
Everyone is so lively, and their innocent smiles come through so clearly that you can almost feel them even without watching the MV.
Even back then, Hyoyeon, the dance lead, showcased a razor-sharp solo, and Taeyeon and Jessica displayed their impressive vocal skills—making it clear they were the real deal from the very beginning.
Mr.Mr.shōjo jidai
They showed a level of coolness like never before.
I was utterly captivated by the nine members dressed in suits and hats, cross-dressing in a masculine style.
It feels like they’ve established that they’re always, always beautiful no matter what they do.
Along with the memorable chorus, it also incorporates clear dance highlights midway through, letting you feel the high level of the formations the nine create.
Mr.Taxishōjo jidai
The dance is distinctive and makes you want to imitate it and start dancing.
The taxi-driver-inspired outfits are undeniably sexy, and it feels like a song only they, with their incredible figures, could pull off.
The lyrics also incorporate Korean skillfully, and I can’t help but sigh at the seamless, tasteful way it all comes across.
Genieshōjo jidai
The biggest appeal of this song is definitely the dance.
The nine-member formation is truly breathtaking.
Also, as is customary in their live performances, Tipa’s one-liner in the middle takes the excitement to its peak, and the finale showcases Taeyeon’s vocal prowess, making it a truly outstanding track.
Lost In Loveshōjo jidai
A song performed by the two of them, Taeyeon and Tiffany.
It’s a deeply moving, heartfelt ballad.
Even if you don’t understand the lyrics, their singing conveys the poignancy so powerfully that you can’t help but applaud.
It makes you realize they’re no longer just idols—they’re true artists.
Genie (Korean version)shōjo jidai
The Korean version of Genie is quite different from the Japanese version, especially the music video.
The dance is based on the same choreography, but there are differences here and there, making it worth comparing.
The song itself is the same, but since the lyrics are in Korean, you might be surprised at the impression it gives at first.
The Great Escapeshōjo jidai
Although it was never released as a single, this song has been performed on Japanese TV shows.
In the chorus, Taeyeon takes the lead vocals while the other eight members take turns with their parts, and the balance and tempo are outstanding.
Back then I only knew songs like Genie and Gee, but hearing this track made me realize I had become a full-fledged Girls’ Generation fan.
