Songs that make you sound good at karaoke

Since the 2020s, the vocal skills demanded in Japan’s music scene have advanced dramatically, and most hit songs have become quite challenging.

Many people may feel that even if they want to sound good at karaoke, it’s hard to find the right songs.

So this time, we’ve picked out songs that make you sound great at karaoke!

Focusing mainly on Japanese music, we’ve selected a wide range from timeless classics to the latest hits.

Because these are songs that tend to “sound good,” we’ve centered our picks on tracks that are easy to sing—perfect even if you’re not confident in your vocal ability.

Songs that make you sound good at karaoke (71–80)

Blooming at nightHoshimachi Suisei

As of June 2025, the average score on JOYSOUND karaoke scoring seems to be around 90.35, giving the impression that the average is on the higher side.

Indeed, among Hoshimachi Suisei’s songs, this one doesn’t have an especially high range and is fairly compact, so it’s easier to hit the pitches compared to her other tracks.

Also, the rhythm is very easy to grasp, so once you learn it, it’s a song that’s easy to sing! If you sing while clearly keeping a 4/4 beat, your timing will match more easily and you’ll line up with the pitch bar perfectly.

Once you’re comfortable, it might be a good idea to add techniques like vibrato!

Rainy HighwayNagie Lane

Nagie Lane is a vocal unit known for a music style centered on city pop.

They embody classic Japanese city pop in a straightforward way, and their appeal lies in a clean, unfussy performance.

Among their songs, the one I especially recommend is Rainy Highway.

It’s sung across the mid-low to high registers, and the chorus features a fairly high falsetto.

Due to the structure of the vocal lines, you can’t rely on breaths or tricks to get by, so it’s a song that truly demands solid vocal ability.

The Zero Sense10-FEET

10-FEET – The Zero Sense (Ending Theme Song of the Film 'THE FIRST SLAM DUNK')
The Zero Sense10-FEET

This is the 22nd single by the Japanese three-piece rock band 10-FEET, released digitally in November 2022.

It was chosen as the ending theme song for the film THE FIRST SLAM DUNK.

It’s a very straightforward rock song, and in terms of tempo and vocal melody, there don’t seem to be any particularly difficult parts to sing.

Because of that, I think it’s relatively easy for most people to aim for a perfect 100 score at karaoke.

The song makes frequent use of breaks at the transitions between sections, so being able to really feel the rhythm there and handle the vocals cleanly will be the key to shooting for that 100.

Be sure to feel the beat solidly and give it a try.

Sun of Lovekururi

A single by Quruli released in March 2023.

It was pre-released in February and was also chosen as the theme song for the Netflix film “Call Me Chihiro.” It’s a simple, medium-tempo pop-rock song that’s very easy to groove to.

The vocal melody line is also very straightforward and easy to hum, so it should be relatively manageable for anyone to shoot for a perfect 100 at karaoke.

Listen closely to the original, study where to sustain notes, where to cut them off, and how to do so, and give that perfect score a try.

December 17CRAZY KEN BAND

Crazy Ken Band, acclaimed as one of the greatest sound creators in the East.

They’re the band that gained popularity with “Tiger & Dragon.” Their sound blends elements of soul and R&B into enka, resulting in a highly distinctive style.

Their unique sound is also woven into “December 17.” It’s the kind of song that becomes suddenly difficult in a higher key, but it tends to sound good when sung in a lower key, so it’s recommended.

The first song that Noritake Kinashi from the popular comedy duo Tunnels released as a solo artist is “GG STAND UP!! feat.

Takahiro Matsumoto.” It features B’z guitarist Takahiro Matsumoto as a guest.

Despite its strikingly funky sound that might seem hard to sing, the song actually has very few high notes.

There aren’t many words either, so you don’t have to worry too much about breathing.

If you want to get better at singing, why not practice with this track?

For those with a higher voice, I recommend “Itoshi Kimie.” It’s a famous song by Naotaro Moriyama.

Speaking of Moriyama, he’s an artist known for his beautiful falsetto and powerful vocals.

“Itoshi Kimie” lets you fully enjoy both of these strengths.

There are several high notes, but since they’re not shouty sections, it should be relatively easy to sing if you have a high voice.

It’s also great for people who are good at singing in a whispery style.

Definitely give it a try!
