The depth of guitar sound. A collection of songs with cool guitar.

The guitar as an instrument originated in Spain around the 16th century.

Since then, and all the way up to the present day, countless masterpieces for guitar have continued to be created around the world.

Today, it may be strongly associated with “rock band instruments,” but there are also many works classified as classical music.

I hope this article conveys, even a little, the guitar’s diversity, its charm, and the wonderful music that springs from it!

It’s also recommended for hobbyist guitarists who are looking for new pieces to tackle.

The Depth of Guitar Sounds: A Collection of Cool Guitar Tracks (71–80)

GUITARHYTHMHotei Tomoyasu

Tomoyasu Hotei / HOTEI – “GUITARHYTHM”
GUITARHYTHMHotei Tomoyasu

It’s a truly signature track that made a striking impression as the opening chapter of Tomoyasu Hotei’s solo career.

The fusion of industrial beats and razor-sharp guitar riffs delivers a shock that shatters listeners’ preconceptions.

This challenging sound is the embodiment of his philosophy of “Guitarhythm,” which pioneers new possibilities for the guitar.

The song is the title track of his milestone debut album, GUITARHYTHM, released in October 1988.

Many were likely astonished by the sheer scale—recorded at a prestigious British studio just six months after BOØWY disbanded.

When you’re ready to take a new step forward, bathing in this shower of sound will give you the courage to carve out the future.

JYOCHO’s “A Perfect Triangle, Morning Sun Human” delivers such a shockingly intense sound that even the most discerning listeners will be stunned.

Layering a flute over this sound—well, that alone is startling—but the guitar is every bit as impressive.

Fierce rhythms, soaring vocals, and the ensemble power of the whole band.

It’s a brain-exploding track.

RomeoBLANKEY JET CITY

The jagged, heavily distorted guitar sounds so masculine and cool! This is a song by the rock band BLANKEY JET CITY, whose popularity took off after their appearance on the music show “Ika-ten.” It’s included on the 1998 album “Heart of Romeo.” The repeated, simple guitar riff is also tastefully gritty, and listening to it really gets me fired up.

The sparkling, shimmering guitar sound is incredibly pleasant.

This track is by JYOCHO, a band with a musicality that evokes math rock and progressive rock, and it’s included on their 2018 EP “The Other Side of the Universe e.p.” It was used as the ending theme for the anime “Junji Ito Collection.” The guitar playing gives the impression of technical yet melancholic phrases surging in endlessly.

By the way, you might have recognized it from the tone, but the guitarist Daijiro is formerly from Uchuu Conbini.

RC Succession, led by the legendary Japanese rock icon Kiyoshiro Imawano.

This is one of their signature songs, where Kiyoshiro Imawano’s warm vocals ride over a rock ’n’ roll rhythm.

These days, guitars can express so many things, but hearing this kind of standard, quintessentially electric-guitar performance really puts me at ease.

I’d like to listen while remembering Kiyoshiro Imawano, who left this world in 2009.
