Cute Halloween headbands: popular DIY ideas that are easy to make
Many people prepare costumes for Halloween in advance, but it’s easy to overlook the finer details like hairstyles.
That’s where a “Halloween headband” comes in handy.
By decorating a simple base with felt, pipe cleaners, lace, and more, you can make cute headbands like “cat ears” or “ribbons.”
Just pop one on and your costume instantly looks a level better, and it’s also perfect for those who want to enjoy Halloween casually.

Eyeball Flower

Have you heard of eyeball flowers, where the tips of plants are eyeballs? They’re one of the fun, pop-style decorations you see a lot around Halloween.
A headband decorated with those wobbly, staggering eyeball flowers is perfect for Halloween, too.
Just stick a googly-eye sticker (with a moving pupil) onto a round styrofoam ball, then insert a pipe cleaner into the styrofoam—done! If you draw bloodshot veins on the white part with a red marker, the eyeball will look even more realistic.
A headband with lots of moving eyeball flowers has a big impact, so it’s especially recommended if you want to stand out.
Make it from an empty box! Cat-ear headband

Cut an empty box into long, thin strips to make the base of the headband.
If the length isn’t enough, connect pieces together.
To increase strength, make two identical strips and glue them together in layers.
Once you curve the base, clip it with clothespins to set the shape, then cover it with black construction paper.
Finally, attach cat ears made from construction paper to finish.
You can adapt this idea for other animal ears or devil horns.
Even with the same cat ears, using different colors of construction paper will change the look, so try making it to suit your taste.
flower garland headband

I think many girls have dreamed at least once about the flower crowns made of clover you see in overseas movies.
So here’s a suggestion: a headband adorned with lots of flowers.
Be sure to focus on Halloween colors like black, orange, and purple.
You can find artificial flowers at 100-yen shops, so start by visiting several and collecting blooms you like.
The trick to making it look good is to decide on a main color.
For example, make orange the main color and use black and purple as accents.
Decorating the headband with small Halloween figurines could be cute, too!
Cat ear headband made with chenille stems (pipe cleaners)

With just a pipe cleaner, you can easily make a cat-ear headband! Take the pipe cleaner that will be the base, run it through your fingers to add a curve, and curl both ends so the wire doesn’t stick out.
Fold another pipe cleaner in half to form the ears, then simply wrap the extra length (the part that isn’t the ears) around the base.
Since it only needs one material and just hand strength, kids can safely enjoy making headbands too.
Change the shape or color to make bunny or dog ears as well! It’s perfect for headbands to wear at preschool performances and the like.
pom-pom headband

The two pom-poms look like ears and are super cute! Choose your favorite yarn and wrap it around a pom-pom maker sold at 100-yen shops, etc.
Make a cut, tie the center with a string, and remove the tool to complete a mini-sized pom-pom.
Trim the fibers into a neat round shape, tie them onto a slightly thicker headband, and secure the two pom-poms with glue to finish.
It’s also recommended to customize it to your liking by changing the colors and sizes or adding a ribbon.
lace cat ears

Lace cat ears are an item that can look both cute and mature.
Simply changing the color of the lace can completely alter the impression.
Using white creates an elegant and refined look, while using black gives a more mature, sweet-and-edgy vibe.
To make them, first prepare a slim, solid-colored headband.
Choosing a slimmer headband helps create a more sophisticated feel.
Next, use wire in the same color as the headband to form the ear shapes, then cover the wire with lace in the shape of ears to finish.
Decorating with ribbons or faux fur is also adorable and highly recommended.

[Disney Ears] Ghost Bride

If you love Disney but want something more than just cute, we recommend the Ghost Bride headband.
Use gray satin and organza fabrics to make Mickey ears.
Attach them to a headband covered in the same fabric, then use a hot glue gun to affix matching veil-like fabric, artificial flowers, and web-like material.
Finally, add small spider charms to complete a bride headband with an ominous vibe.
Coordinate your dress and makeup to match, and try playing the part of a melancholy bride.
