Portable basketball hoop

I'll show you how to make a portable basketball hoop. Basketball anywhere! Shooting practice [Homemade/DIY]
Portable basketball hoop

Here’s an idea for a portable basketball hoop that you can hook onto a fence or similar structure.

There’s a hook on the back of the backboard that you hang it with, and you can secure it further using a rubber strap with a hook attached at the bottom.

This is a proper DIY project, so you’ll need tools, but the appeal is that you can easily practice shooting outdoors where there’s no hoop.

If you’re interested, give it a try using this as a reference.

If you plan to use a park fence or similar, be sure to check the rules beforehand.

For DIY basketball hoops, the popular idea is to use a hanger, but since easy-to-handle wire is sold at 100-yen shops, I recommend using that if you don’t have any spare hangers! Here’s an idea: thread a mesh scrubber from the 100-yen shop onto the wire to make the rim, then attach it to a backboard made from cardboard, construction paper, and vinyl tape.

By adjusting the wire length and the number of mesh scrubbers, you can make either a large or small hoop.

Try making one to fit the size of the ball you want to use!

Here’s a DIY basketball hoop idea you can make using items from a 100-yen shop! The materials are a mesh bag, a hanger, and a plug-in hook.

First, cut off the handles of the mesh bag with scissors.

Next, untwist the hanger and bend it into a round shape, then thread it through the edge of the bag.

Once you’ve gone all the way around, twist the hanger back to its original closed position.

Remove the hook part from the plug-in hook and insert the hanger’s hook into it.

Finally, make a slit in the bottom of the mesh bag, and you’re done! It’s super easy, so give it a try.

Basketball goal for toddlers

Here’s a recommended idea for when toddlers want to enjoy shooting balls! Since it’s a free-standing goal with legs, you can play basketball anywhere.

You can probably make the backboard and legs from cardboard or milk cartons, and the hoop from wire and vinyl tape.

Adjust the hoop size to match the ball you’ll use.

A slightly lower height might be best.

Since it’s for toddlers, finishing it with colorful tape and adding designs of characters they like will likely make them really happy!

A basketball hoop made from newspaper and plastic bags

Let’s play at home! #5 Let’s make a basketball hoop
A basketball hoop made from newspaper and plastic bags

Here’s how to make a basketball hoop using just newspaper, a plastic bag, and cardboard.

First, cut off the handles of the plastic bag and open it up so it becomes a single rectangle.

Next, roll the newspaper diagonally into a long, thin tube, and wrap one edge of the opened plastic bag around it.

Tape the plastic to the newspaper to secure it, then shape the newspaper into a circle while flattening it slightly, and glue it together.

Attach the ring to a cardboard backboard, and you’re done! Try playing with a ball made by crumpling up newspaper.

Here’s an idea using extruded polystyrene foam board.

Although it’s typically used as insulation, you can buy it at home improvement stores.

Cut the foam board into the shape of a backboard, then use vinyl tape to create a rectangular border around the edges and in front of the goal.

After that, just mount it on the wall and combine it with a goal you’ve purchased from an online shop.

It costs more than making one entirely by hand, but it’s a great option if you want a more realistic indoor goal.

Let’s try recreating a basketball hoop using hangers, yarn, and cardboard.

First, use two hangers.

Widen the clothes-hanging parts of both to form circles, overlap them with the hooks side by side, and secure them with tape.

Next, use yarn to make the net.

Thread one piece of yarn through the hanger, tape it in place, and tie it into a loop.

A short distance away, thread another piece of yarn through the hanger and secure it, then pass the yarn through the previous loop and tie it.

Repeat this all the way around.

Finally, make the backboard from cardboard.

Poke holes in the cardboard to match the positions of the hanger hooks, and draw a square target with a pen.

Hang the hoop you made onto the backboard, and you’re done! Try hanging the hooks over the top of a door and have fun playing.
