There are lots of enemy characters in the world of Minecraft, right? Creepers, zombies, Endermen—if you enjoy playing Minecraft, you probably have at least one favorite character.
So how about making a garland inspired by those characters? Garlands are great for decorating your room and can also be used as birthday decorations.
They’re easy to make with colored construction paper or felt, so they’re perfect as gifts, too!
Felt Creeper
This craft project uses felt to assemble a Creeper, one of Minecraft’s most iconic characters.
Larger sizes can be hard to make stand, so I recommend making it as a cute, palm-sized mascot.
The key is to carefully measure each face and cut the felt accordingly; precise dimensions help convey the character’s inorganic feel.
It’s also important to keep the left and right sides perfectly symmetrical and to join the pieces in a way that keeps the corners from becoming rounded.
Dollar store Minecraft block
Grass-covered dirt blocks are a common sight in the world of Minecraft! There are also plenty of others, like cobblestone and wood.
How about making different types of blocks and giving them as a gift? Drill a hole in a square wooden block and embed a small magnet.
Paint and decorate the outside, and you’re done! Since the magnet is embedded, you can stack or attach the blocks together.

Cut the felt into identical squares with perfect right angles in mind, and assemble the character while considering left-right symmetry.
If it doesn’t hold its shape well, try layering the felt or inserting a piece of cardstock inside.
When sewing or gluing, focus on keeping the corners crisp.
Minecraft balloon
This is a craft project where you start with a balloon and attach facial features inspired by Minecraft characters.
Focus on how various things are represented using combinations of squares, and add expressions with masking tape or vinyl tape.
Making the face clearly symmetrical and using simple lines will help convey the Minecraft look.
You can also cut the tape into perfect squares and arrange them to create a Minecraft-like feel.
LEGO Steve
LEGO, the toy where you combine plastic blocks to play—it’s so famous that hardly anyone doesn’t know it.
How about recreating the world of Minecraft using those bricks? For example, you can relatively easily make Steve yourself.
