[From Costume to Accessories] Handmade Minnie Mouse Costume

While Disney princesses are popular choices for girls’ costumes, you just can’t leave out Minnie Mouse!

In this article, we’ll share handmade ideas for Minnie’s pop-and-cute outfits and accessories.

When it comes to Minnie, the standout features are her red outfit with white polka dots and that voluminous skirt.

We’ll introduce DIY ideas ranging from easy-to-make skirts to dresses and accessories like headbands.

Whether you’re heading to Disneyland or your child is begging for a costume, why not use these tips as inspiration and try making one yourself?

[From Costume to Accessories] Handmade Minnie Mouse Costumes (11–20)

40th Anniversary Minnie

This is the outfit Minnie wore for Tokyo Disneyland’s 40th anniversary.

It’s a dress with multiple layers of red fabric, and if you cosplay in this, you’re sure to stand out.

Since this design uses many layered pieces, try using a light material like organza if a child will be wearing it.

You’ll also want to make the star belt that serves as an accent, as well as a hair accessory in the same color scheme as the belt.

There’s also a Minnie doll wearing this costume available for purchase, so you might find it helpful to use that as a reference.

fluffy headband

Here’s an idea for a soft, felt headband that even a baby can wear.

Cut Minnie-style ears, a red bow with white polka dots, and the headband base all from felt, then stuff them with padding.

For the bow, first shape it from red felt, then sew on white felt circles you’ve cut out, placing them with good balance.

Don’t forget to sew stretch lace onto the base to secure it to the head.

If you’re worried about regular headbands for babies, give this idea a try.

Easter Minnie

The outfit Minnie wore in “Tip-Top Easter” was so adorable, wasn’t it? A light cream-colored dress with a pink short-sleeved jacket—any girl would want to wear it at least once! The skirt’s bunny-ear motif pattern is another heart-melting detail.

There are many steps involved, so you’ll need a few days to make it, but the feeling when you finish is beyond words.

If you want to create a special costume for your child, why not give it a try?

No-sew lace headband

No-sew lace headband

This headband is made entirely by gluing.

Since you’ll use a hot glue gun, be careful to avoid burns as you work.

First, cut out four identical ear templates from thick paper.

Place the templates on your chosen fabric and cut the fabric slightly larger along the template lines.

Make four pieces in total.

Glue the cut fabric onto the templates, insert stuffing in between, and seal them.

Then layer lace fabric on top and glue it down.

Pair them up and glue the template sides together.

Attach the finished ears to the headband base, and you’re done! Adding lace to the base or adorning the ears with beads will make it even cuter.

A headband is a handy item to have both for costumes and for trips to Disney, isn’t it? Here’s one to try: a Minnie Mouse headband made by combining fabric, stuffing, lace, and a store-bought headband.

Prepare your favorite fabric, make a pattern, and cut out the ear and bow pieces.

Sew them into shape, add stuffing, and close them up.

Then sew them onto the headband, which has lace attached on the inside.

If you want a cohesive look, I recommend covering the headband with the same fabric before adding the lace.

♪ Mickey Mouse March – from 'The Mickey Mouse Club' – Yuko Mifune (piano)

If you wear a pair of uniquely original Mickey ear headbands, you’re sure to turn heads at the theme park and make lasting memories.

This idea is inspired by Minnie, but you can easily adapt it into a Mickey version by sticking to chic, subdued colors.

The best part is that there’s no sewing at all—just gluing everything together.

Use a simple store-bought headband for the base, and lightweight cork coasters for the ears.

Once the base is assembled, decorate it with lace, rhinestones, scrunchies, and more.

Mickey ear headband with a Christmas design

@mmhiromi7

Halloween is over, but I can’t stop crafting 🤣🤣🤣 I made three Christmas-themed headbands 🎄♥️ I’ve already posted a how-to video before, so I’ll skip the steps this time. They didn’t have my usual headbands, so I had to start by peeling off the fabric 💦 I also picked up a bunch of different embellishments ✨️✨ Cutting is honestly such a pain and not that fun to watch, but it takes a lot of time lol The most fun part is combining the fabrics and decorating ❤️🥰1) First one is a Lil’ Rinrin-inspired design ❤️ It looks a bit Italian, but the key is using a chic shade of green 💚 The little red heart buttons are adorable 🥰2) Second is red velvet ❤️ By using off-white for the pearls and fluffy trim, it gives a more luxurious feel ✨️ I added a touch of sweetness and cuteness by using hearts to create a polka-dot effect on the ribbon ☺️3) Third is a deep blue ❤️ For blue, it’s got to be white and silver, right? ✨️ So I made it look like snow and a Christmas tree ⛄️ The detail where it looks like a heart charm is dangling is the highlight 💙 I actually wanted to go more all-out, but I kept it more restrained than I imagined to make it feel elegant 😂Tell me which design you like best—I’d love to know! 🥰ZukokateKatyushaTranslationHandmadeTranslation#ChristmasLil Rinrin

Let’s customize a store-bought headband to make Mickey ears.

This one features a Christmas design, embellished with a party hat, faux fur, and rhinestones for a festive finish.

The design is up to you—try using classic Christmas colors, a blue palette that evokes snow, and play around with the placement of decorations to create a cute headband that reflects your style.

To keep the look cohesive, we recommend wrapping the base headband with fabric.

Cost-effective Disney costume

If you switch the inner layer to long sleeves, it becomes a cost-effective outfit you can wear all year round 👋🐭 lol — — — — —Translation#Disney#JamboreeMickey#TriedDancingJamboreeMickeyCostume#d costume#CostumeMaking#Production Video#fyp ♡ ‘23.12.8

It’s the outfit worn by the dancer in “Jamboree Mickey! Let’s Dance!” The key features are a skirt with blue stripes and a red T-shirt with a white vest.

Everything except the T-shirt is handmade, but you could probably find similar items ready-made.

If you go with store-bought pieces, adding the distinctive red, white, and black stripes and attaching a Mickey patch to the chest of the vest should make it look authentic.

If you wear a three-quarter sleeve or long-sleeve inner layer, it should be wearable in all but the depths of winter.

Let’s make a headband that matches a Jamboree Mickey costume.

Speaking of the Jamboree Mickey dancer’s outfit, the tricolor colors give it a fresh look, right? With that image in mind, I made Mickey ears in tricolor.

Use a white base, add tricolor ribbons and sequins, and finish by decorating the center with a red bow.

The original dancer doesn’t wear a headband, but adding one makes the look even cuter and draws more attention.

If you want an easy way to add a touch of Mickey, a hat is a great choice.

Here’s an idea: attach Mickey ears to a store-bought hat and use a paint marker like Posca to write a name or logo.

Washing might be tricky, but because the hat itself is simple, your customizations can really show your personality.

Hats are also useful on hot days for shade and heatstroke prevention, so they can be a fun and safe item that fits the theme park vibe.

Add a ribbon and you can turn it into Minnie, too.
