weightless skirt without pannier

Here’s an idea for creating a cute, softly flared skirt silhouette without using a petticoat.
First, cut your fabric according to the pattern.
Prepare two pieces each of 80-denier tulle, outer fabric, and lining.
Sew each pair together, leaving out the section where the zipper will go.
Layer them so that the tulle is on top, then the lining, then the outer fabric.
Sew together at the hem, attach the waistband, and you’re done! The shape is super cute, so try making it with red fabric with white polka dots.
A pannier you can make without sewing

When you add a petticoat, a skirt gets that cute, fluffy silhouette, right? But if you only wear it for costumes, you might hesitate to buy a store-bought one or make it yourself.
So here’s a petticoat you can make without sewing! The idea is to hang slightly inflated plastic bags from an elastic waistband.
Sounds too simple? But when you put a skirt on over it, it fluffs out nicely and actually works as a petticoat.
It does make a crinkly noise, so keep that in mind, but for events like school festivals or recitals, it’s low-cost and just perfect.
Red-and-white polka-dot matching set
I want to dress up as Minnie Mouse, but making a costume by hand is hard.
In that case, I recommend coordinating an outfit with red fabric and white polka dots! Many people associate red with white polka dots with Minnie Mouse, and I think it makes a perfectly lovely costume.
Plus, if you buy ready-made items, you can wear them as everyday clothes too, which is economical.
Add a Minnie Mouse pouch or a headband with Minnie ears, and enjoy an easy costume!

fluffy headband

Here’s an idea for a soft, felt headband that even a baby can wear.
Cut Minnie-style ears, a red bow with white polka dots, and the headband base all from felt, then stuff them with padding.
For the bow, first shape it from red felt, then sew on white felt circles you’ve cut out, placing them with good balance.
Don’t forget to sew stretch lace onto the base to secure it to the head.
If you’re worried about regular headbands for babies, give this idea a try.
40th Anniversary Minnie
This is the outfit Minnie wore for Tokyo Disneyland’s 40th anniversary.
It’s a dress with multiple layers of red fabric, and if you cosplay in this, you’re sure to stand out.
Since this design uses many layered pieces, try using a light material like organza if a child will be wearing it.
You’ll also want to make the star belt that serves as an accent, as well as a hair accessory in the same color scheme as the belt.
There’s also a Minnie doll wearing this costume available for purchase, so you might find it helpful to use that as a reference.
Easter Minnie

The outfit Minnie wore in “Tip-Top Easter” was so adorable, wasn’t it? A light cream-colored dress with a pink short-sleeved jacket—any girl would want to wear it at least once! The skirt’s bunny-ear motif pattern is another heart-melting detail.
There are many steps involved, so you’ll need a few days to make it, but the feeling when you finish is beyond words.
If you want to create a special costume for your child, why not give it a try?
No-sew lace headband

This headband is made entirely by gluing.
Since you’ll use a hot glue gun, be careful to avoid burns as you work.
First, cut out four identical ear templates from thick paper.
Place the templates on your chosen fabric and cut the fabric slightly larger along the template lines.
Make four pieces in total.
Glue the cut fabric onto the templates, insert stuffing in between, and seal them.
Then layer lace fabric on top and glue it down.
Pair them up and glue the template sides together.
Attach the finished ears to the headband base, and you’re done! Adding lace to the base or adorning the ears with beads will make it even cuter.
